to throw a ball out of bounds instead of taking a 10+ yard loss scrambling around? Stupid.

Would probably be a penalty for having linemen downfield

Only the person that is the initial QB on the play can ground the ball or throw it away outside the pocket.

You want the guy the coaches beg to hold onto the ball at all times suddenly throwing it around by his choice? Bold strategy

The Saints ran an end-around in the SB that got blown up and I was screaming for the ball carrier to do this. You might get lucky with the refs.

Pretty sure it’s against the rules. Only player that can throw away the ball is the player that gets the snap.

This. They called Bo Nix for intentional grounding last week when he threw it away after Auburn tried a reverse pass

I was shocked they realized that with Auburn. I knew it was technically illegal but had no expectation of it getting called.

Know how I know you weren’t paying attention during Auburn game? They called Nix for grounding even though he was outside pocket and ball passed LOS bc he did not take snap from center as he was lined up wide on that abortion of a trick play.

You do not actually know that there is a rule that does not allow this. The original person to receive the first snap is the only person allowed to ground the ball outside the pocket.
