Why does Simmons struggle offensively in the first half?

Plays too much on the perimeter?
Defenses key on him?
Not aggressive enough?
Seems like if we want him to be a facilitator we would post him up and he could find the open shooter...we just don't seem to have any consistency offensively. We look great offensively for 3-4 minutes then have turnovers and out of control drives and shots the next 3-4 min.

TAMU is not giving him anything inside except stupid turnovers. Outside he isn't a threat so there you have it.
He is a great player but right now his inability to shoot jump shots has me questioning the hype. YES he is GREAT but I find it hard to believe the best bb player in all of college ball can't hit a jump shot.
The zone has left LSU without an answer and lets hope the TAMU coach isn't smart enough to use it whenever they need to put the breaks on the LSU offense.

Smart basketball players that are good understand that it is more important to get their teammates going early. Benny knows he will get his but wants to keep his teammates involved so they can get into the game. He has done it all year.

I feel more confident with Victor taking a jump shot than Ben

I get that but when he is on the perimeter they aren't guarding him...no need to guard Malone or Robinson either so our guards are pretty much screwed unless they penetrate and dish

He's just not a dominant offensive player like Jones who can score every way imaginable. He needs to get down low and create some free throws chances.

Either he is over hyped or Johnny Jones sucks dick at game planning

With his size and athleticism growing up he didn't need a jump shot; surprising that his Dad didn't push to develop that part of his game;he will probably develop it, but long after he he is done here
