Why does everyone think Fulton will boost the defense so greatly?

I get it, he has incredible potential and he was a very good recruit, one of the best in his class...

But he didn't play last year and only played 3 game (cupcake games) in 2016. Never started, played minimal snaps.

I have high hopes for the kid and I think he can be great for us, but right out the gate? Shouldn't he need some time to improve before we start saying "he'll be a game changer in the defense if he can play this year"?

He was ahead of Greedy on depth chart.

That’s all u need to know.

Defense would have no holes with Fulton.

Kids grow up after being on campus for 3 years regardless of playing or not. He was slated to start the game before he got injured. Then became suspended. It's not far stretch to think he could be a big contributor or even starter

Not like he hasn't played football this whole time.

He's practiced and worked out.

You keep saying this, but is there a link of the staff saying it?

To the OP: Fulton (if he lives up to his billing) allows Aranda to put both corners on islands if he wants to and be more creative with the rest of the D. He was ranked higher than Greedy coming out of HS, is a freak athlete, and has a very high football IQ by all accounts.

The backups/ ones that aren’t eligible are always the GOAT

Because he’s likely a very good CB and CB depth is sort of a concern this year

Or the only 5 star Corner we have on the team

ETA: Not that stars are everything but he was rated that high for a reason and would have probably started last year opposite of Greedy.

I’m skeptical he’ll jump right in and set the world on fire but when he was a true freshmen, he created a ton of buzz at practice. Staff identified him as a future star.

Well, he did get playing time as a true freshman while Williams redshirted, so I guess that counts for something

Because he has been given high praise by people that see him practice with LSU everyday lol. That's good enough for me to believe he would help us out.

Let’s get this straight. Surtain Jr, as a true frosh, would’ve come in an started and been elite.

Former 5 star that was one of the best CBS in the name has been in a S&C program for 3 years minimal impact?

So was Tolliver. And was ranked just as high or higher in his class as Fulton. I wouldn't say Tolliver was a game changer for us.

I'm not questioning either of these things. I'm questioning why people think he would be a game changer this year when we have nothing to base that on.

And I'm saying some people think he will jump right in and set the world on fire. Why?
