Why do so many people here think a loss to Miami will cause the entire season to crash?

How many teams have lost a OOC game only to bounce back and do very well for next 11 regular season games?

It happens almost every year with at least one team. Hell, looks at LSU after Troy

I can understand such sentiment if LSU loses by 2 or more touchdowns vs Miami, but do you guys really think a 24-20 loss or something like that will foretell a 5 loss season?

Look at whose coaching? Look at the schedule, it gets worse after Miami. lsu really needs to beat miami

Because Ed O is going to lose his shite when the criticism really starts to ramp up.

It doesn’t get “worse” after miami. They are the third best team on schedule

A loss to them is in line with a 9-3 season

im sure he will get yet another restraining order against him from a poor woman he beats. It would benefit woman kind to have him win.

I don't think it would cause the entire season to crash but the momentum carried from this opener will be critical.

LSU has Auburn on the road a couple weeks later too

If LSU puts itself in a hole before we even play Georgia and Bama it could be really bad. I think the SEC will be a bit more difficult this year and a little more unpredictable with a lot of new coaches in the conference.

In an unstable position as we are in, a first game loss is gonna crank up the pressure on him more than a sec loss would.

He doesn't need to lose that first game

oh it does get worse. Auburn on the road, plus bama, georgia and Miss State who pushed lsu's shite in last year. It could be a bad year. Winning that opener is pretty damn important.

Lsu needs that win against miami because there are very few gimmies on the schedule. Hell lsu is playing 4 ny6 participants on the schedule and 2 of them were in the ncg.

You act as if Miss State and Florida are some easy games. State beat us by 30 points last year with Mullen and now Mullen is at Florida.

Am I the only one who thinks Florida on the road will be tricky?

Definitely wouldn't sleep on them if Mullen can kind a way to develop a solid offense.

There is no easy wins in this conference really, need to be prepared every weekend.

Considering you can chalk up losses to Bama and Georgia, possibly even Auburn, we need to beat Miami to avoid a potential 4 loss season. People around here already complain about recruiting, back-to-back bad years of LSU football and we'll be the Tennessee of the west for a few years.

IMO this teams best record would be 10-2 (L vs Bama and UGA). If we end with that, and the games are close, I think we'll be ok. If they're blow out or we lose 4-5 games. It'll be tough times around here.

We aren't gonna lose to Miami. After reading all the spring releases and articles, it's fair to presume the only teams more talented than us on our schedule are bama and probably Georgia. Both are at home so we should go no worse than 10-2, probably 11-1

No. Mullen can coach. They'll be competing with Georgia in the East by 2019 going forward if not next year.

Tricky? Wouldn't surprise me one bit if LSU goes to The Swamp as underdogs.

In the last 20 years never, miles didn't lose ooc games until his last season. Saban didn't really lose them either and those teams didn't come close to 11 wins. Same as last year, not close to a 11 win season. And if we lose to Miami, with the sec schedule we have we could easily finish the season 6-6, 5-7 if we don't get and good bounces. Offense is a huge ?, first time in a while we are going to be unsure of our running game and if qb play has been like it normally been than our offense will be really really bad. Only good things injury aside our defense should be really good so it will keep us in just about every game with a chance to win. But if injuries happen especially in the secondary that side of the ball could be bad. Plus, Ed o hasn't proved he could be a good head coach, in fact he is a teally bad one and if the wheels fall off and we start the season 1-2, Alleva may be fired and puts ed o on a seat the devil himself may find too hot.

I would argue the 4th best team on the schedule. Auburn is at least as good IMO and at Auburn. Florida in the Swamp is also a hard call with a new coach who rammed it into us pretty hard last season. And who knows what Jimbo A&M will be?

Ultimately, a loss to Miami may mean nothing and may be a motivator, just like a win vs Miami may may also mean nothing and may only indicate an overhyped Miami team. Ultimately, the season will tell if the Miami game is a bellwether game or just another game.

In any case, who wants to start the season with a loss?

Dude... LSU losses to Miami by at least ten and the season will go downhill from there... 6-6 is all I expect.... The dude is NOT the right coach for this job.....

Isn't that how it sounds lol? A good coach doesn't lose to inferior teams so why are our expectations to be lowered?
