Why do fans yell directions to the field or at the tv?

The team can't hear you. So why do people yell directions to the coach and or player, such as "defense!" "Throw i!" or "give it to Fournette!" I've never understood that. I'm like a monk when watching sports. I've never understood why people yell things while watching.

because your frustrations and emotions boil over and you just shout what is on your mind.

Because we are human beings.

If you aren't emotionally invested, why are you watching?

Maybe because most people are social creatures who derive entertainment and passion when watching their team? I have to question your mental capacity if you even have to ask this question.

I don't show my emotions to others. I process everything internally.

we're all different but, man, that'll eat you up inside. Nothing wrong with letting those around you know what you're feeling (using tact when appropriate, of course).

I don't tell them by yelling or losing control. I haven't yelled at someone since I was a teenager 20 years ago. If I need to express my feelings, I do so calmly and rationally.

LOL, I don't know... but I do it ALL the time.

Hell, when on D I yell "ballllllll" when pass is thrown because it bugs the hell out of me when a pass is completed within inches of a DB's facemask and they never looked.

Bugs me even more that his teammates don't do it (sideline included). Yeah, probably wouldn't hear it anyway, but WTF. I can tell..... they can't hear me. Damn Deaf Valley.

I'm with you man to a certain extent. I don't care if people yell "ball" or whatever in the moment, but I can't stand when I'm watching a game with a guy who swears he should be coaching.

I prefer yelling things like "I'M DISPLEASED WITH THE PRODUCT ON THE FIELD"

and

"IF THINGS DONT CHANGE I'LL SPEND MY DISPOSABLE INCOME ON OTHER ACTIVITIES"

people around me hate it

Speaking for myself, I can't watch LSU's offense sober, and I'm not very smart when I'm shite hammered.
