Why did Donte Jackson’s game translate better to the NFL?

He was good here but he had his moments where we were like wtf. The only thing I can think of is Carolina let’s him play zone coverage and his speed is deadly is zone.
I’m asking because I wonder if the same will happen for Kary Vincent. His best games have been when we play him at safety and he can roam the field and make plays instead of being manned up.

Vincent is a bum compared to Jackson

But seriously, the fact that Donte Jackson is better in the NFL and Mo Claiborne was worst makes no sense to me...

Really, you would refer to any of our players as a bum?

For jacksons size he was never afraid to tackle, never. Dude put his nose in everything.
That aspect of his game really surprised me a lot.
He and Tre are very similar both undersized but ball hawks, super fast, and want to tackle.
Very happy they are having great careers.

The physical ability was always there. He’s probably just understands the position better and improved his technique.

This exact opposite happened to Mo. He was man press all the way and got placed in a zone scheme.

Speaking of a different Jackson, why didn’t Chavis Jackson’s game translate better at NFL? He was very good in college and had all the tools coming out of the combine.

Well Donte was also a 2nd team all-american
Donte dropped probably 5-6 INT's in his career at LSU, seemed like he worked on his hands. If he could have caught the ball better he probably would have been a first rounder because of his speed

Not really sure it's not the same game. He still gets beat but his speed makes up so much as the ball is in the air. Same as when he was at LSU. I think he really understands himself as a player now because of maturity. Maybe a better way to describe his play is he understands who he is as a defender and he has perfected his craft.
Also LSU played all man to man when he was there and now he plays more zone and he is doing a lot more reading of the play.

Think simple growth.
Kids mature at different times, as dies coordination, strength, mental awareness, etc.
Mo came in here more ready and therefore performed better against other young athletes.
Donate came in here fast as hell. When you are that fast, you use your speed to make up for technique issues.
And at the end of the day...no one knows why this happens because of the team they are on, the DC, and the scheme

Donte was on another level the last drive of that 2017 auburn game. He had like 3 pbu’s on rocket throws from Stidham. I remember that more than those plays against uf and notre dame

Because he is maturing? Getting better?

Ever since he was switched to nickel his last year, his game really expanded. I'm not sure what exactly did it for him -- maybe it was just a culmination of preparation/athleticism -- but he hasn't looked back since IMO
