Why are people putting this loss on JD?
Posted by GeauxTigers247

Look, JD is not a great QB and I do feel like he limits us in explosive plays downfield. But, he’s good enough to win games. The fumble was a huge setback in the game, but what was more egregious to me was how our front 7 on defense got handled.
I’m sorry, but you can’t allow 274 yards rushing at 5.5ypc and a 3rd down conversion rate of 67% and expect to win against anyone.
Imagine someone telling you before the game that A&M was going to line up under center, in the I-Formation and put up 274 yards rushing and 31 offensive points on your defense. Would your response be “This is the QBs fault.”
Truth be told 24 points should have been enough to win this game. We allowed A&M to match their season high in offensive points. They also scored 31 offensive points on Sam Houston in week 1. The defense just didn’t show up.

Did you watch that game at all?

The whole team sucked it up.

He sucked in this game but so did everyone else

The defense has bailed him out when he’s played like absolute shite several times this year. When they needed him to step up after they forced two 3 and outs in a row and took the momentum he fumbled the game away. Also bounced it to a wide open Bech on 3rd down the following drive and threw the ball 5 rows deep to a wide open Emery that would’ve walked in for a TD. His bad play was a very large part of why we lost and no amount of spin or deflection will change that fact.

Jayden brought us as far as he’s capable of. He’s extremely limited as a passer

I think people are tired of seeing the way he plays. It’s just obvious that he can make plays with his legs but in the long run we’re no contender as long as he’s back there

The fumble was huge and the mis-read to Emery... but a&m scored on every possession in the first half. Got to get a stop once.

I saw a defense get routinely shredded by an antiquated offense on their way to allowing 31 points against a team who's struggled to even score 20 this year.

Daniels is a 4 year starter. He got outplayed by a 3rd string Freshman scrub. Daniels is afraid to throw the ball. It's one look and haul ass. A&M's DC followed what TN did right and what Bama did wrong and effectively shut Daniels down. After the fumble for td Daniels was worthless.

Why are people putting this loss on JD?
And he refused to throw downfield. Even I, a Daniels defender, was screaming at the TV for him to turn it loose. He almost never did.

As far as 20 yds+, yes. He's limited. But Joe Burrow was Danny Etling 2.0 when he arrived according to the rant.
I get that JD was a 3 year starter before he came here. But, did he have a mentor to guide him to be better those 3 years, or did he have a coach who told him to tuck and run if his first read wasn't there?
The strides he's made from Fla St to now is phenomenal.
If CBK demands he does an off-season of 10,000 catches like coach E and Brady pushed for, JD could become a Heisman contender.

1st drive, JD5 misses a pass over the outstretched arms of a receiver that would have sustained the drive. He missed receivers multiple times. He made no good reads downfield. NONE, ZERO, ZILCH. Fumbled the ball giving A$M a free TD, but yeah, his play did not lose the game for LSU.

All the reps in the world won’t fix him refusing to throw the ball. That’s a mental thing.

The same reason they blamed Nuss for the Arkansas loss last season.
JD was the QB, leader of the team.
Without Perkins play, JD would have been blamed for the Arkansas loss this season.

His play was a contributing factor in the loss, but wasn’t the main reason.

Have you watched JD5 play at all this year? He could do 100,000 passes and it would make no difference. He does not possess the aptitude to play QB. Why don't people just not get this. Cannot make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

The fumble cost the game and he shouldn’t have even kept it. The running back option was an easy first.
That’s why BK was chewing him out. Was an obvious give and not take

Of course, it's mental.
But, if you can get him to a point where he's reacting and not overthinking, he can be really good.
Not NFL good, but college system QB good.
The truth is, if he stays, he's the starter next year. There's no denying that. We can only hope CBK can get him to a point where he throws to receivers because of anticipation and not because he sees they're open.

I'm surprised he finished the game. Even the Aggy fans around me were stunned he was able to keep playing after two hits in particular.
Aggy QB wasn't bad, but Muhammed had gloves made of super glue. Dude was a beast.
But for everyone crapping on him, the TD drive in the 4Q at the end of the game was great. That call is going to stand next to the PP7 non-interception.
