Who, exactly, was distracting Stingley on the LSU sidelines on that fluke TD play?

No one was distracting him. That is part of the defenses process, when the offense is changing their play we look to the sideline to see if our play changes as well. In this case, Alabama had scouted out that tendency and faked a look to the sideline to change the play, then hiked the ball and caught our whole D flat-footed. Stingley wasn't the only one looking.

Orgeron said the receiver would clap, and Stingley was instructed to look over when that happened. Smith clapped and they immediately snapped it and ran a fade. Alabama pulled a fast one on him.

Coach O already said it was not his fault. That is what they coached him to do, he was just doing what he was taught.

Bama saw it and exploited it, it was a good job by them to catch it and use it to their benefit.

It wasn't someone just distracting Stingley. Watch the play the entire defense was lookign for a play change.

Bama looked over and Tua clapped for the ball, it was trick play. Thye made it seem they were looking for a check with me but snapped the ball, LSU reacted and checked with the sideline for a change and by the time they realized it the ball was in the air

We had, as a team, decided to look to the sideline when Tua clapped (because he changed everytime).

Bama saw this and suckered us. It was good on them. They got us.

Sounds like a good adjustment on Bama's part.

It's nobody's fault.

It was a gimmick play by Bama. After Bama would check at the line, LSU's defense would check right after and look at the sideline. Bama picked up on this and Tua looked at the sideline to get the check and right as LSU followed suit, he quickly clapped and got the snap while LSU wasn't paying attention and hit Smith down the sideline.

It wasn't just Stingley, Chaisson was also caught flat-footed missing the snap.

Give props to Bama for catching what LSU was doing and capitalizing on it.

I guess it was Tua, not Smith. My apologies...

I think Brady and E should add that one to the rotation. Worked like a charm.

Every team in the future will work that move in.

Stingley pointed directly at someone right after that play.

Smart of Bama to pick up on that. But dumb on someone's part to have such an easily exploitable tendency.

An elite athlete and cover corner doesn't need to be coached to look at the sideline in any case, Les Miles wouldn't have let that happen.

You must not watch a lot of college football, the check with the coaches chess match happens almost every play.
