In the new format era, 4 teams have lost one of its first two games and went on to play in the championship round ... 2003 Stanford, 2006 Oregon St, 2007 North Carolina, 2010 South Carolina. OSU and USC went on to win the title.

Don't forget '76(Arizona), '79(Cal St. Fullerton), and '80(Arizona). These champions all lost their first game in Omaha. So, this has happened a few more than 3 times.

This is the most meaningful stat. You need to include the teams that lost game 2 because they face the same uphill battle.
