Which LSU team would have benefited most from an expanded playoff?

2001 or 2006 are the obvious answers. 2012 was a play from playing for a championship so I’ll add them as well.

2016 was loaded, too.

01 we were red hot at the end but I'm not sure we could take down 01 Da U.

06 is likely a NC with a extended playoff

2012 would have a shot since we were good enough to beat bama that year

The most wasted opportunity in school history. Unforgivable coaching in Auburn game.

2006 and 2012

2012 had the natty for the taking if they didn’t piss away that Bama game

they were only ranked 20 going into postseason. definitely should've been a 1 loss team imo

The new expanded play off proposal won't amount to a hill of beans, because the same five teams, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, and UGA, who always finish in the top five in national recruiting, will always dominate the nattys.

How different are the 2012-2015 Miles teams if when they lost to Bama they still had something to play for? Those teams would always quit post Bama because the seasons were basically done.

2019, there were more skulls to drag that year.

2006 is the correct answer though

Yeah that team lost a couple of tough road games early but hit their stride toward the end of the year.

By the post season rolled around no one was beating that team.

Still think that despite not winning a championship, the 06 team was significantly better than the 07 team that won it all.

that was a great team and may well have won it but Florida was no joke and neither was USC

Everyone knows this, but that’s not the point. The point of expansion is to have more games matter during the whole season. Almost all of the west coast isn’t watching games by November b/c their teams have one or two loses. That’s not good for college football. Expanding to 12 keeps more people engaged for the whole season. And it’s gonna be fun as hell having multiple playoff rounds and home playoff games.

I agree about 2006. That AUburn game still pisses me off. Could’ve won back to back nattys
