I keep seeing this DC can’t stop modern offenses and that DC can’t either...(insert DC’s at your pleasure)
So who has proven they can?

1 game against a good opponent means he can stop modern offenses?

Whoever has superior talent

I haven't seen evidence of any DC scheme that is consistently able to stop modern offenses as in the days of yore.
Today, "success" is about getting a few key stops.

John Chevis
LSU played spread teams great under Chief.

You can't really stop it, you can only hope to contain part of it..(i.e. LSUs defensive backfield this year.)

Can’t really stop it but contain. Bend but don’t break.
When they get to the red zone offenses have less room to operate. That’s when you hold them to field goals.

You have to be able to create negative plays, and make the QB throw it sooner than he’d like.
This will cause stops and turnovers, that’s how you beat any offense, doesnt matter the era.

I would love to see Heacock run his system with our talent

The one that gets to practice against it all year.

good point, there wasn't anyone in college football that could stop our offense this year. It is really about slowing down teams, recruiting athletes and having them in the right position to make plays.

From a standpoint of making the quarterback throw too quick, I would have to take Todd Grantham. He didn’t pressure Joey too much this year, but he typically is not scared to bring the pressure.

Any chance he would leave Iowa state?

Any of them can if the have better talent than the offense. Tons of shitty teams run spread. The difference is the other team has better athletes. It’s 80 percent players and 20 percent scheme/coaching. Vandy can run the spread all they want. They are not going anywhere.

Of course it doesn’t take much to stop crappy teams. I don’t think that’s what anyone is concerned with.
We are looking to stop the best of the best.
It’s interesting that so many posts over the past few days detail how different DC’s can’t stop the spread.
Yet, when the question is posed as to who can, there aren’t really any names popping up.
