I hardly ever hear his name in the blame game.

When the same happens if we have a competent head coach.

Alabama lost their DC and their DB coach but still signed Surtain.
We've had the same (elite) DC and (elite) DB coach for basically the entire time we've been recruiting him.

doesn't really make a great argument on why aranda shouldn't of been able to get this guy signed.

I'm calling it now, Aranda will be the scapegoat this year for all the O lovers. Last year it was Canada and it won't be E this year because he's one of us. All thats left is Aranda

Aranda is assigned some blame but he answers to Orgeron. The HC is the one that's supposed to close the deal on these big recruits.

Aranda and Raymond were the only reason we were in the mix for for so long. But they can only do so much.

I've never heard of a DC taking the blame for losing prospects. Position coaches play a massive role in this.

Furthermore, Surtain Jr picking UA over LSU shouldn't shock anyone. Especially when the reasons why are right infront of your face.

Aranda is not the head coach, and is not responsible for recruiting, like it or not it falls on Coach O. Ya know, the coach who is supposed to be such a great recruiter.

when he becomes HC

also, Aranda has never sold himself as a great recruiter, O does

it's what I keep yelling. Most of this board thinks O is a joke, while they simultaneously blame Surtain for choosing the great college football coach ever over Ed Orgeron

Does Aranda play a significant role in recruiting ?
If not, doesn't that create a problem in his ascendency to the HC position, as many on here advocate?

But if Aranda was given the head coach opportunity, he'll all of a sudden become the closer that he is not now due to his titling as seen by recruits? asking for a friend.

if Aranda was giving the HC he would be smart to hire proven recruiters as his staff

if he didn't and failed to deliver top classes, then yes, he should receive criticism

this little "gotcha" attempt isn't as clever as you think
