But do you see that happening with some guys? Or has that talk died down?

I don't know, but yes, the talk has died down since after the Arkansas series. I hope the winning since Arkansas Game 3 and a some time to cool off will ease things and nobody we want to stay will leave.

re: When do Manieri's exit interviews with the players begin?
Hal can't go juco route, too old for that
Maybe he goes to play for his dad at KSU, that could happen
Unless Doughty beats him out defensively, I think Hughes is likely your SS next year with Doughty at 3B
You see where the Tulane SS signed a free agent deal as a jr even though he wasn't drafted, he hit low 200's

I could see Ripoll, Threadgill and maybe Gunter looking at JUCO route or transfer route
Mathis probably sees the writing on the wall as well
Not sure where Willis fits in but I hope he stays and at least competes through fall ball before making any decision

I remember he cut Arby Fields 5 minutes after the loss to Stony Brook. Mainieri does them pretty quick.

I hope either Hughes turns the bat around, or our line up mashes enough next year to be fine with a drop off of offense to justify him at SS. I don't hope he is gone. We are pretty thin on the IF.

Would hope they all stick around. I'm counting 22 pitchers on the roster though. So it's a position that will almost certainly see some players leave.

We do have 6 catchers on the roster. That's a lot. Mathis could possibly seek playing time elsewhere. Doughty is the obvious choice, from a talent stand point but I don't see that even being an option with his brother here.

I really really don't want to lose him. I hope we find a starting position for him next year. I have absolutely nothing to base this off of, but I can't help but think he is one of the ones people are talking about when they mention smoke of a player leaving that we wouldn't want to see go.

re: When do Manieri's exit interviews with the players begin?
The way Gunter looked in his last two appearances, I really hope he sticks around.

But TBH, unlike some other years where the deadweight is much more evident, there isn't a single guy on the roster currently that I think should be pushed out. I understand that I'm not in the majority opinion there.

Yeah, I have trouble saying that I can easily see any of the players being gone, with the exception of one. Although that's the one I think will absolutely not be gone.

Any IF/OF needs to be here just for a depth standpoint.

We have a lot of pitchers, but there is a lot of injury issues, so I can't say we have too many.

We also have a lot of catchers. I can see Mathis and/or one of the freshman seeking something else.

Well, Ripoll and Mathis are the first two players to be trimmed from the roster. I agree with you about Gunter. Might have something in him

Has he had them already?

Seeing that a couple of kids are already looking to transfer, I'd think he started on Tuesday if not Monday.

Hitting with the skinny end couldn't really hurt his batting average. Worth a try.
