....Stickers proliferated!

When Curley was asked about the expectations, he chuckled and replied to the effect: Pretty soon they’ll be sayin’ Curley ‘bout Crazy!

I recall thinking: I bet he is serious, he cannot handle LSU FB.

When I saw Oeux grinning while flying over Tiger Stadium, my mind heartened back to Curley.

Then the image changed to Oeux and Jeux in a Car Drone, laughing in flight, with big money bags in the overhead storage ??

Believe Coach Hallman never had a winning season at LSU, think Coach Orgeron has had two

Some people inspire confidence at first glance ( Will Wade ) . Others do not ( Curley ) . Some don’t at first, but win you over in time ( Dabo). Just because you find a guy uninspiring, doesn’t mean he can’t win. Because ALL of us have been proven wrong many, many times in our lifetimes.

And with those two seasons he is still behind Hallman in overall win percentage. That's how bad a candidate he was when we hired him. Let that sink in...

If CEO had Bret Favre at OM, his record would have been much better.

CURLEY HALLMAN was the worst hire ever at LSU in any sport who was the A.D. at that time...I heard he would be drunk when he arrived at functions...what a total embarrassment he was to the university both on and off the field....

Well said and I believe that's why many have come around to giving him a chance to prove it on the field this year, especially after the Burrow signing. A lot of new coaches and transfers, so we need to wait to see how this year plays out.

really? Not so fast... interim coaches wins do not count towards official records. You wiki types read that garbage for facts.

Regardless of whether or not O was your guy, I cannot for the life of me understand why any LSU fan would actively pull against him or try to sabotage his tenure here. You people need to decide if you want to be right or you want to be happy.

At least let the man give it a shot before you try to run him off. If he doesn't win the National Championship this year, or if he doesn't win the conference, or if he doesn't win 10 games, or if he doesn't walk on water (whatever your benchmark) then run him off. But for God's sake, at least pull for his success until that time.

100% agree. Curley was abysmal at LSU, and in retrospect was only ever seen as good thanks to a certain future HOF QB he had at USM.

While I think Orgeron is an abysmal coach, and has the resume to prove it, I don't think he'll EVER be given the kind of time to tank the program like Hallman was. this just isn't the LSU Football program of 1993. A terrible season at this point is 7-5... Despite the fact that there seems to be a concerted effort to lower expectations that kind of record will doom a coach in 2018. Yet given our resources now, that 7-5 or 6-6 type season IS Hallman-like and ought to get anyone run.

So...even I'll be happy to say that Orgeron will NEVER have as shitty a record when he leaves LSU as did Hallman. Too much going for the program to tank that badly and before he approaches that kind of failure he'll be gone.

Pimp is absolutely right.

I will say Curley was an obviously bad hire right from the start. He was hired because of tenuous connection to the Bear (a real fetish in the 80s/90s SEC) who promised to be a strict disciplinarian after the disaster of player's coach Mike Archer. He was hired more for who he wasn't rather than who he was, though Southern Miss did pull a few upsets under Curley, later to be revealed more the responsibility of Favre than Curley.

But Hallman was bad from Day One. LSU lost his first game, to A&M, 31-10. They lost the second 45-7 to Georgia. Look, O had a bad loss to Troy, but many coaches drop a bad one early in their tenure (just check out Saban and UAB or ULM), but he rallied to a 9-win season. It took Curley two full seasons to win 9 games. O won 6 SEC games last year and is 11-3 in conference play dating back to his interim year. Curley didn't win 11 SEC games in his entire tenure, topping out at 10-22.

ETA: If you want to discard O's interim year, he has 6 SEC wins. curley didn't win his 6th SEC game until late in his THIRD season as coach. They are on different planets of performance.

There's reason to believe O might be Archer, but he certainly isn't Curley.

And he still wasn't as bad as Joe Alleva. They should never interview another Joe for A.D.
