I'll hazard a guess. When they recruit some of these super highly rated players they sometimes have to promise them playing time to get them. Usually that takes the form of "You'll get at least x snaps the first couple of games." So they fulfill the recruiting promise then turn to the more dependable receivers.

This comes from my nephew(-in-law) who played baseball for LSU in 2010.

The staff went with the veterans vs Auburn and they stepped up and made plays.

We just played 2 top 10 teams and we choose to go with veterans in the big games rather than rely on the talent and youth. Expect to see a lot of Marshall and Chase this week.

They are coming along just fine. Got to remember that Anderson and Sullivan aren't slouches. They were also highly rated out of high school. People have waited a couple years for them to step up and start playing to their potential. I mean if I had a couple 6'5+ WRs that stepped up, I'd be throwing them the ball early and often. They are a mismatch waiting to be exploited.

It's very rare for a freshman WR to start from day one in the SEC. Most are not ready.

I know. Right?
I say strip them of their scholarships and lets start over.
They've already had three full games...

freshmen

When I was young I knew everything
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken,
Sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice, no

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise

For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

They’ve played 3 college level games, give them time to adjust. I mean you’ve taken English classes your whole life and you still suck at it...

yeah, you have no clue what youre talking about.

both Chase and Marshall have each already recorded catches. LSU only has attempted 78 passes and is incredibly deep. 11 different players have a catch recorded, 8 of those 11 have more than 1.

LSU is not going to have a clear cut #1 receiver. Jefferson definitely seems to emerged as one but I think that will eventually even out. The auburn game should be making people excited about this group of receivers, not nervous about freshmen development.

Actually it's not rare at all. It happens a lot more than you think. Beckham and Quinn started as true freshman, Bama always has a true freshman starting WR, UGA has had a couple, Mizzu, Ole Miss, UF, Tennessee, etc.
