What’s the deal with Jacoby Stevens?

Coming in as a freshman, he was a big 5 star recruit with some serious hype. What’s been going on with him? What does he struggle with that’s not putting up on the other side of Delpit? Also don’t get me wrong, battle/Monroe/Paris will be solid, but it’s just hard to see a 6’2 216 safety get little to no playing time?

Similar career to Craig Loston. I think Loston was a 5 Star as well, but not certain.

You answered your own question. He wasn't at the top of the depth chart his true freshman season. They tried other ways to get him on the field. 5 stars does not mean they will walk into the locker room and automatically start from day one. Have patience, and maybe give him time.

If we don’t get Fulton cleared for the season, I can see Paris playing a depth role at Corner this year.

He’s a freshman going into his 2nd year and a bunch of jackass’s on the rant are trying to label him a bust before fall camp starts.

How can you compare his career to Loston at this point? Jacoby Stevens will be a true sophomore this year.
To answer the OP, he switched positions back and forth last year. Started the season at WR and moved back to safety mid-season. He's an elite athlete. He has plenty of time to work his way into the lineup.

Monroe gonna have a monster year. I think Stevens just needs to get his feet wet. It’s taking him longer than we expected.

Rankings do mean a lot. Delpit was ranked very high. Stevens looked great on film and at camps. He has all the tools. Just taking longer than delpit.

Just wanted to add that Craig Loston may have laid the biggest hit in LSU history.
It is funny that 2 of the biggest hits in LSU history occurred to the same poor SOB from MSU

I think it had to do with him being such good all around that that the coaches tried too hard to get him in someplace. So instead of focusing on one role and making a difference, he got used here and there, but didn't stand out.

Stevens is a great athlete but there’s a bunch of great athletes in the secondary. I have heard that Todd Harris is ahead of Stevens right now. Next year will be Stevens breakout year. Delpit Monroe Battle Harris & Paris will be the main ones battling for PT. Jacoby will be a ST’s baller though
