What's all of this chatter about Orgeron's seat getting hot?

I really hope that this is a joke! I get it... He's no Nick Saban, but he's only had 2 full years and the team is getting better each year. This season should be at the very least a measuring stick on what he's capable of and by all accounts we looked stacked. Not to mention he's making hires that is attracting top talent from way the hell over in California which is something I never seen before from LSU. If he can do just one game better this season than last; which by all accounts should have been an 11 win season, he would/should be safe. I would like to see more competitiveness vs Alabama and better recruitment of lineman on both sides of the ball but that's about all I can really be upset about. The more our own fans bad mouth and talk down on him, the more it spreads like a damn disease into the national media outlets who read these boards. That hurts our image and recruiting. If they talk good about you then the recruits will come. Saban wins because he gets all the best players and the media treats him like a god.

It’s being led by Goldrush and Rickdaddy.

I’m sure we can turn this into a 37 page thread about Troy.

It’s not hot and it shouldn’t be but his security blanket is gone.

Despite what rantards on this board believe, the truth is- neither coach O nor CPM is on the hot seat.

This. I guarantee Woodward doesn’t tout a 9-3 season as success like Alleva did.

No one truly believes his seat is getting hot at the moment. But the odds of him being judged objectively just increased significantly.

Wishful thinking from people who didn’t want him in the first place. He’s ok for now, but he’ll have to continue to show improvement.

Considering everyone in the nation (including 95% of fans on this site) had us losing 6-7 games, last year was a big success. If you had told everyone last August we would end the year at #6 in the final AP and Coaches' poll, they would have laughed in your face.

You had me until this. I’ve seen no evidence of the national media giving a shite about what some fans think of Ed Orgeron. As far as recruiting, what is it really hurting? You said yourself:

I agree he’s not/shouldn’t be on the hot seat, but this comment is BS.

It’s laughable since there has been zero change in O’s performance from before we hired Woodward and now but somehow O’s seat is now hot?

It’s ridiculous.

It’s people who want him gone before he accidentally gets us in the playoffs and we’re “stuck” with him.

I dont know that it is hot, but definitely warm. The question is how long do you allow the new head coach to perform at the level that the old coach did that ultimately got him fired. Only without any SEC titles and a National Championship like the old coach had.

Most people agree Coach O should not have been hired in the first place. Some people are so consumed with counting the days until he is gone that they’ve missed the fact he is exceeding expectations and is doing a good job.

They are convinced he will fail, and nothing will change their mind.

Woodward is also ‘one of us.’

He can look O in the eye and make him own/earn it.

ADs like to select their own Head Coaches, is pretty simple, and Orgeron is not his guy. JA would have given Ed a pretty long leash. Woodward, not so much, imv, especially if hardware continues to be lean

So you're saying that fan perception doesn't affect the media's perception while at the same time saying that most fans and the media tabbed us at 6-7 or 8-4 at best... I'm not saying the fans are the only catalyst but you can bet it has an impact in our social media world.

It’s not hot.. LSU is coming off their Biggest bowl win since 2007.. solid recruiting class, new offensive directive lead by Joe Brady. Espn index today has LSU at #4. Expectations will be high. O just has to win games. 10 win season imo is the expectation.

Not only is he not exceeding expectations, his performance really is indistinguishable from end-stage Les Miles, except that he's recruited inarguably worse
