I’m thinking somewhere along the lines of Jonestown.

Baseball and basketball focused.

What football championship-contending program had they built prior to 1989?
I think it would’ve been very different, considering expectations weren’t quite the same.
Nick Saban and Les Miles changed that.

A lot more cordial! My generation didn't insult and attack one another hiding behind a computer or smart phone, and if someone did personally attack, he was subject to a very good arse-whoopin.

Back in my day we had to walk 8 miles to meet someone at Sonic. And it was uphill both ways.

1958. I’d say years like 1969 and 1987 were probably the closest they came, since ‘58.
The program did win the SEC in 86 (outright) and 88 (Shared). But no- the EXPECTATIONS were nothing like today.

1989 - “damn if we just had a defense to go with our offense and some actual receivers instead of running backs playing WR.”
1990 - “Todd Kinchen did NOT fricking push off in the end zone”
1991 - “we had FSU beaten until everyone remembered Curley was coaching”
August 1992 - “we have the #1 running back from 5 different states. We’re going undefeated bitches!!”
November 1992 - “please fire that bastard”
1993 - “just beat Arky and we’re Carquesting!!”.....”Jesus, 3 backs over 100 yards? FML
1994 - “the dropped pick 6 against aTm set the tone for the season...fire that bastard”

There’d be a “Golden Band from Tigerland” Board. Supposedly they were more popular than the players at that time

Just let Alleva and O run things for a couple more years and you will surely find out

HaHa but shite, I'm only 42, and my kids are only 8.75 and 7. But I'll tell you my first "car" phone was in 1992, a Tandy from Radio Shack (bag phone).

Dark......very dark. Think Vanderbilt but without the possibility of many of the posters getting any type of good job and latching onto small victories like the periodic big play by Kinchen followed by mass suicides in the wake of the Auburn debacle as well as the loss to Colorado State
Very ugly
