What would have happened if Miami recovered Anderson's fumble?

Would they have kept possession or would LSU get the ball back because the fumble was caused by an illegal hit?

Nothing would have happened. We'd still beat the hell out of them.

I think we would have gotten the ball back. But it didn't happen.

Samething that would have happened if they'd committed any other penalty on that play. Walk off the yards. Give the ball to LSU.

That is my suspicion but does anyone know the rule?

That would be a pretty glaring loophole if Miami would have been penalized 15 yards, the player ejected but Miami kept the ball.

Forward progress had stopped. It wasn't a fumble anyway. I know it wasn't called that way and I dont know if they would have reviewed it.

It wasn't a dead ball hit after possession changed, it was a hit during the play so LSU would have retained possession.

People are shitting on you like this is a big hypothetical “would we lose the game” question

It seems like your asking for a rules clarification.

Assuming no TV time out and Miami didn't hurry on the field to snap the ball, we keep the ball due to the penalty, and in this case, the illegal hit caused the fumble. Let's remember, had we not screwed up and called a time out with 1 second left, that play never gets reviewed and they don't lose a top player. I was screaming at the TV when it happened and there was no reason the review guys didn't immediately see it especially since there was plenty of time after the scramble for the ball.

We would maintain possession. Happened in Indiana game.

Because it’s easier to talk shite when you have no clue about the rules.

Hopefully the WRs learned a cheap lesson from the game Sunday.

Besides the drops, Anderson fumbling and Jefferson holding the ball in a way that’s begging for a strip are plays that change games.
