The confidence seems to be approaching 2016 levels vs Wisc, which seems unwarranted considering Texas is highly(ish) ranked and wisc wasn’t

I do think LSU beats Texas because that Tex oline is used to Swiss cheese big 12 defense

I said it in my op but edited because it did indeed sound contradictory

I meant I think LSU d will probably overwhelm Texas Oline, but that doesn’t mean tex can’t find ways around that.

I don’t remember a bunch of confidence going into 2016. Granted, I’ve been drunk since then so I may be wrong about that.

I was super confident going into that Wisky game.

I thought there was no way in hell we qould lose to a Wisconsin team that was that young. But ..les miles.

We have a QB that can duel now though.

Outside of Bama 2012, you could argue that was one of the turning points.

It's mainly because Tx lost so much on defense and their top receiver. Further, Burrow>>>Harris, so there's that.

I was confident in 2016 because we had Fournette and a promise from Miles that the offense would be improved/different.

I am confident this year, because we will have a week under our belts, we have a real leader at QB in Burrow, and a defense that should be close to 2011 levels. Also, Texas just needs its arse whipped.

Def Wisc. They were far less talented than we were. BH just wasn't the guy.

I think we beat TX but Im not confident We'll whoop em.

I'm more confident about TX than Miami tho.

Texas.

Almost completely because I thought higher of Wisconsin that year than I do of Texas this year.

I was equally as optimistic about LSU's chances both years, so that is a wash. Dear god, we better not shite the bed like 2016. I don't think we will because of Burrow.

Wasting that 2016 defense was an absolute fricking travesty.

ETA:

Wisconsin was criminally underrated preseason that year. They climbed into the top 5 the last week of the season I believe. I was really bearish on them preseason because of their lines.

Texas is replacing, what 8 or 9 senior starters on defense? That is a huge loss of leadership and experience, regardless of talent replacing them.

wow, bad memory. This board was saying we'd blow out Wisconsin, and I cautioned that it would be a tight game.

Texas will be a tight one too.

I'm not confident at all. 2016 was peak confidence for me, and I will never fall for that pre-season pump fest that was at epic levels that year. I thought we'd be title contenders.

Ummm

Lots of people had their eyes on a national title that preseason, me included.

We had a shite ton of experienced talent coming back on both sides of the ball and that was our best defense under Aranda to date. Not to mention Fournette being a beast. Brandon Harris was just a complete bust and Miles refused to open up the offense.

ETA:

Preseason this team looked fricking STACKED. Experience and talent across the board.

QB - Harris - Jr
WR - Dupre - Jr
WR - Dural - Sr
WR - Chark - Jr
RB - Fournette - Jr
RB - Guice - So
FB - JD Moore - Sr
OL - Pocic - Sr
OL - Clapp - So
OL - Boutte - Jr
OL - Brumfield - So
OL - Malone - Jr
OL - Teuhema - So

DB - Tre White - Sr
DB - Dwayne Thomas - Sr
DB - Jamal Adams - Jr
DB - Rickey Jefferson - Sr
DB - Donte Jackson - So
DB - Kevin Tolliver - So
DB/LB - Corey Thompson - Sr
LB - Kendall Beckwith - Sr
LB - Duke Riley - Sr
DL - Lewis Neal - Sr
DL - Davon Godchaux - Jr
DL - Christian Lacouture - Sr
DL - Frank Herron - Jr
DL - Greg Gilmore - Jr
DL - Travonte Valentine - So

K - Delahoussaye - Sr

Burrow > Harris. This team won’t ground and pound a gimpy RB also, plenty of depth there.

LSU by 2 scores

What? 2016 Wisconsin by a mile. I thought LSu was going to win it all this time back in 2016. I believed the rumors, Manning camp's etc... that the light had finally turned on for Harris. But, Harris' and Cam Cameron's incompetence along with all the backstabbing led by alleva and "others" led to a very disappointing year, especially after losing to Florida at home as a 2 TD favorite.

I see LSU having their hands full in Austin this year.

I think the fact that I was so confident for Wisc is what makes me a little hesitant with Texas. Brady is saying all of the right things, but we've heard a lot of it for 8 years now. I want proof before I go all in.

I was way over confident in 16. Thought there was NO way we lost that game. We were stacked.

I still feel we beat Texas, but I am not overconfident by any means.

I'm as confident as I was for Miami '18. I predict it gets ugly fast.

The confidence vs Wisconsin was (sadly) warranted.

The 2016 roster on paper was our best since 2011, and probably top 5 roster since 2000 on talent alone.

We were playing a Wisconsin team that wasn’t thought to be spectacular and even though they ended up much better than preseason expectations, LSU still had enough talent to beat them by 2 scores.
