Well, when you have to beat that team in order to win your division, conference and get to a playoff game, it's pretty important to discuss.

Bama didn't do any of the above in the 11 season.

It started before 11/18, when JJ took the helms. No way was he going to beat Bama a second time.

I would agree with all of this if we were in late October and undefeated. This is early August, a LOT of things have to happen before the Bama game in order for it to be THAT important.

Get over it. Go to Walgreen's and buy yourself some Boudreaux's Butt Paste and Nugenix.

You can thank me later.

I don't care what the other option is. 1/9 is my answer everytime. I never wanted to watch football again.

I don't know what's worse than getting blanked in the National Championship game by your most hated rival and crossing the 50 yard line once the entire game. I was considering Chernobyl as a possible answer but I've decided that it, too, pales.

I don't blame him for 1/9. We exhausted our entire hand in the GoTC. There was nothing we could do.

Bull Feces!
That was the biggest phone it in game plan ever witnessed in college football. Anyone who thought the option was going to work after catching them off guard the first game is an absolute idiot. Not to mention running a bubble screen into cover 2 with the DE lined up 5 wide.

Nobody has a clue if LSU beats Okie St. they could put up points better than any team LSU played that year..... including Oregon...

Oklahoma St would have gotten absolutely fricking destroyed by LSU or Alabama that year. Those were hands down the two best teams and unfortunately for LSU, Bama's defense was perfectly equipped to shut down our offense. Oklahoma St did not have talent to stop LSU from running the ball down their throats. I don't think even Jordan Jefferson could have fricked that game up for us. And that's saying something.

Of course anything could've happened, but You can feel pretty confident saying LSU would've handled OSU. That just would not have been a good matchup for OSU. They were all offensive flash with an average (at best) defense.

LSU would've been the best defense by far that OSU saw that season.

I feel like it would've played out similar to the Arky or UGA game that season. OSU with a couple of early scores courtesy of a meticulously scripted first few drives. But then LSU's running game and defense settle in and take over from there. Sprinkle in some badass special teams play and LSU wins 35-17.

Seems fair... But the LSU fans that BITCH about having to play Bama again are just sore losers instead of having A coach that made ZERO adjustments before OR during the game... Saban is A master of this and it showed that night... MILES did NOT have his team even close to being ready to play on offene... The defense was real good in that game...

11/18/11 was much more improbable, which makes it worse in my opinion. We knew that it would be unlikely that we would beat that stellar Bama team two times in a row.

AJ Klein and company at Iowa State indirectly cost LSU a national championship that night and sent our football program downward into a gradual decline.

The ending to that season heralded the end of the Golden Age of LSU Football.

Great post by the OP by the way

It was a travesty for sure. I've never in my life - with the the exception of 1/9 - ever seen a team who literally looked like their strategy was to lose by as little as possible.

I'm about 75% certain that there was no offensive strategy concocted. Seemed like the game plan was:

1. Dont turn the ball over
2. Keep fingers crossed that Bama fricks up and turns the ball over deep in their own territory enough to kick a few field goals and hope that's enough to win.

I'll never forget the pregame Superdome field walk-around by Les and Midget. It looked dismal even then. Something just looked like Les was about to get his Lesticles removed...
