What RB is going to step it up this year? This position group has a lot to prove.

LSU has a strong history of great backs that can break a game wide open with one broken tackle. Just recently we've had LF, DG and CEH.

Do we have an RB on the roster today that can break a game wide open with one or two broken tackles today? I don't see it.

Tyrion Davis-Price is the most consistent back but has not shown the ability to take over a game. TDP has average 32.2 yards per game and 4.4 yards per play. TDP is not a receiving threat. He only averaged 5.3 yard per game receiving.

I thought John Emery would be that RB that would follow behind CEH and continue the tradition of great LSU RBs. But that has not happened. He certainly seems to have the potential but he just can't get on the field. Whether it's injury, screwing up blocking assignments, or dropping easily catchable balls, injury and mistakes are keeping Emery off the field. Correct these issue and John can go from 7 plays a game to 15-20 which would be awesome. If Emery is getting 15-20 carries per game this season that is a clear sign the light bulb has turned on.

Then we have Tre Bradford. My only expectation from Bradford is using him as a third down back. He seems too slender to go between the tackles on a consistent basis on 1st and 2nd downs. I hope he's improved his pass catching and blocking skills because I can see him being used a lot on 3rd down and working him into space where he can be affective.

Then you have the highly touted new guys Armoni Goodwin and Corey Kiner. I hope they come in and blow us away. If these two young guys show out I would feel much better about this position group. But until we see them on the field it's really unknown.

I feel like at this point the RB group is the furthest behind but can make the greatest gains before the season opener. Just need some guys to step up and reach their potential.

Price will have a 1100+ yard season.

That would be a massive improvement. He had 446 yards in 9 games last season.

Goodwin might be the best back on the roster. But I like that TDP has slimmed up. That should benefit him

Furthest behind who? We’ve got a very young group with Davis Price and Emery as true Sophs. I expect both to have great seasons

If Emery turns the corner that would be huge. I like Davis Price as a consistent guy but he isn't a superstar.

So far, I haven't been that impressed with the Former LSU Running Back Super Star as the RB Coach.

The development and performance of all the RB's has been disappointing. (Especially Emery) How much has been mediocre talent combined with mediocre OL and how much has been mediocre RB coaching?

The Tigers have been suffering at the traditionally LSU Strong Position ever since they massively whiffed on Travis Etienne. They (Faulk) can't afford to miss on the current Etienne that's about ready to make his college choice known. Jennings is still right down west on I-10 the last time I checked.......

I am excited to see what the freshmen can do. There is certainly opportunity there for one of them to make some noise in a few months.

Goodwin's videos show him as an excellent pass catcher and he can make defenders miss.
He could be the surprise of the class.

CEH didn't enter 2019 with much in the way of expectations and most thought he would be passed by Emery by game 6. We will have 6 running backs in the fall. One will emerge. If LSU is running 11 personnel with no subs, you need the guy with the most utility and athleticism.

Davis Price and Emery are sophomores due to the covid waiver, but they would be juniors otherwise. It's really a year where one or both should break through.

Armoni Goodwin

Kids highlight videos are something. He has vision, speed, and toughness. If he can pick up the pass protections he will see a lot of PT.

They used Koy Moore out of the backfield Saturday. Same concepts as Brady used in 2019 with Jetts. Going to see some of that return in the fall. WR on a LB = win most of the time.

I guess if you use the excuse of a covid year, sure. However, they've been on campus for over two years now...

Hoping and praying Emery is putting in the work so that he can get enough opportunities to shine.

I think we are going to have to have a freshman make an amazing immediate impact. It has happened before, but they will need major help from the Oline, and based on what I saw in the spring game, that doesn't appear too likely. We can hope they jell together though.

Emery might get delegated to the bench if he doesn't improve mentally and physically. He was overhyped big time coming out of Desty and he has proved exactly that thus far.

I think TDP is going to have his best season yet for sure.

Goodwin will turn some heads as well. He was a big time pick up late in the recruiting cycle. He’ll be an impact player moving forward.
