Saban was an average to slightly above average coach.
he inherited a program in the dumps. Won the SEC in year two and made LSU a championship program for the first time since 1958. No way in hell was he average

Saban had so much more say so than O. O has to listen to everything the top dogs tell him.

"Saban is a far better coach today"

I always laugh when I read this crap. We watched Saban take his first team and win 8. We watched him beat a great, great Tennessee team that was headed for national championship like a dog. With a backup qb

We saw how relentless his players played. How physical they were. He took a program, don't give me oh dinardo had us headed right direction, that was sucking and had sucked for a while and turned them into winners. Then did the unthinkable. Won a national title at LSU which not many people thought was possible. It wasn't like they had been knocking on the door for years, LSU was struggling to make bowl games.

No, He was widely, widely considered the best coach in college Football. If he wasn't as great as we thought, We wouldn't have pursued him like we did. What he has done at Alabama isn't any surprise. We knew he would do this. Again, it's why we pursued him so hard and why people were so excited. We had the best coach in football. Championships were going to be plentiful.

2004 was 9-3 but what do you think that means? That he wasn’t special at LSU? Where does this revisionist history come from? LSU hadn’t had 5 consecutive winning seasons since 84-88. He also lost 3 his 4th year at Alabama. It’s hilarious that people like to use 2002 or 2004 to somehow argue he wasn’t that great at LSU because he had a “lesser”
season after a great one. I can’t help but think it’s a by product of the incredible run he’s had since.
The Sabans players is used as a smear to discredit Miles but it is true Saban left an unreal amount of talent. If you think he wouldn’t have done at least as well in 2005-2007 you’re just deluding yourself.
