compared to pulling for a Louisiana team that has chances seemingly every year for national championships. Was it just because it's a smaller school and you were pulling for the underdog in the state
Also, in the years that I became a Tech fan, LSU was horrible. Tech had a couple of teams that probably would have beat LSU ('90, '92, and '99 if I remember correctly).
But, my personality is also to pull for the underdogs in the world. Tech's wins over Bama and Cal and Mississippi State and Michigan State, etc... means as much to me as LSU's national championship games mean to y'all.

HATRED OF LSU UPDATE
I liesten to 99.7 ESPN radio out of RUSTON. FOr like the 200th day in a row there are no local callers calling in From Tech ranting and hating ON LSU
Sorry to bust everyones bubble here that wants for some reason to create fan hate where it does not exist

These threads are so silly half the time. It is war between two boards. Most Tech fan like LSU and most LSU fans have no Tech hate
They are in two different confernces and go their two different ways
You got LSU fans that are appalled that Tech wants to improve their program and see it as LSU envy
You got Tech Fans that just get upset anyone can sya something nice about LSU
In the real world this acounts for one half of one percent of the fan base of each side
But because it is a message board each side thinks well if he says it it must means THOUSANDS believe in it. It gets all tiresome

Tech doesn't have alot of fans. The fans they do have go to the football games. When the LSU score is announced during the Tech games and LSU is trailing or has been beat, there is a very noticeable cheer, if not roar, that resonates from one side of the stadium to the other.
Maybe it is not hate, but there is definitely a dislike, resentment, penis envy, or something going on there.

You know I go to a lot of Tech games and I never notice this
In fact I see the peopl with TVs out in parking lot watching LSU games and being happy when LSU wins
I have lived around Louisiana Tech country all my life and never seen this LSU hate
I have been to bars in Ruston when LSU is playing at Night and Tech had an afternoon game. LSu is on and no is booing
I think this is all so overblown. I have rarely seen it besides with silly LSU fans on boards and Tech fans on boards that want to rile people up

"The resentment comes when a Tech grad says, "I am an LSU fan first but I also pull for Tech when they aren't playing LSU."
That's just ridiculous to me and I'll never understand it."
It's not for you or me to decide who should be a fan of whom; it's an individual choice and really no ones concern but the one making it. If you resent another's choice of who they wish be a fan of, no matter where they went to school, then, with all due respect, the problem is yours and not theirs. imo
BTW, and this is not any point you raised, but Tech has 545 football wins and Tulane has 484.

i graduated from Tech, i hope they do good in sports, but i did not go to tech because of their sports... i am fine driving to baton rouge to watch games or watch on tv... occasionally i may take in a tech game...
i went to the school, this doesnt mean i have to be a diehard fan

There isn't any, at least LSU will play Tech. But Tech doesn't want to play ULM, at least LSU doesn't fear losing 4-5 in a row to Tech.....

Let me ask some of you Tech grads why you would rather support a school that you have no affiliation with than the school you graduated from? Especially when the one school doesn't need your support and does not even recognize your existence while your school desperately needs your support and you carry a degree from that school and may even display it on your wall. How does supporting LSU help you?
I can't imagine ever being a Texas Longhorn fan just because they are "the state school" in the state I live in or they play in a better conference than my school or more people are on that bandwagon than my school. Help me, it doesn't make sense to me.

sorry that my computer stutters, but for what it is worth (outside the USC game years ago), my next favorite radio games are Tech beating bama twice, and then ULM a couple of years ago "you gotta love it!!!!!

T1, I guess my case is that LSU was who I grew up watching on TV. I'm not originally from Ruston, so they weren't like my hometown team or anything. The few Tech games I did go watch just felt so miniscule and unimportant compared to LSUs huge SEC primetime games. There are diehard Tech fans in Ruston, but it doesn't seem to tranlate to game attendance. Tech doesn't need any more support from me. They already got my thousands in books and tuition. There are enough well-offs here in Ruston to support them for them not to worry about little ol me. You remember the names James Davison and TL James while you were here? Add Karl Malone to those 2 now. I believe Bradshaw is throwing a little bit their way, too.

I agree...if you want to be a diehard, that's great and more power to you. If you don't want to be a diehard, that's great too and more power to you. Personally, I don't understand why this is even an issue. Why should I care bout why you became a fan of whatever you became a fan of?? I mean, we can chat bout it, but why do some feel the need to make some kinda judgment of the right or wrong of the fanhood of another?
