There is no overcoming that kind of thought. A Tech grad who cannot believe another Tech grad supports Tech over LSU.
I agree, there is no rule in Louisiana that you have to be an LSU fan. It is a free world and a person can cheer for whatever school they want. A Tech grad can cheer for LSU and vice versa. I am an LSU grad and fan first, but I cheer for Tech if the two aren't playing one another.

Rattay to Edwards, etc. I knew Bama would end up in the conversation. Yes we lost to ULM but dont forget, we lost to Tech TWICE...97 and 99. In 99 we lost to Tech and we beat friggin Florida and Spurrier twice and were SEC champs. We also beat LSU by the way. Rattay and edwards would have smoked anything ULM, ULL, Humphries and SE or yes, even anything LSU had in 99. They were very good.

Rattay to Edwards was no better than Humphries to Williams at ULM. LTU has never had a team that would not have been a serious underdog vs LSU. Tech no better in any given year than any other State school. Ther natural rival is ulm. No doubt if ulm can beat ALa that they could beat Ltu.This thread is a joke.
1st, Humphries and (Stepfret) Williams didn't play together.
2nd, if they did, they still don't measure up to Rattay / Edwards
Tim Rattay (1997-99)
12,746 yards 115 TD's
Stan Humphries (1986-87)
4,395 yards 29 TD's
----------------------------------------
Troy Edwards (1996-98)
4,352 yards and 50 TD's
Stepfret Williams (1993-95)
3,177 yards and 33 TD's

I would have no problem with a Tech grad saying that about LSU.
The resentment comes when a Tech grad says, "I am an LSU fan first but I also pull for Tech when they aren't playing LSU."
That's just ridiculous to me and I'll never understand it.

Take a look at what that DaSalty is posting. I can't believe he ever set foot in a university, and if he did, I certainly hope it wasn't LSU. Because he's and embarrasment and ....
First of all, I am a former LSU student, alumnus, and faculty. Second, I have the feeling that I have spent a lot more time in universities than you have, and by the way, not just in the deep south. Finally, those of us who are very faithful fans make no apology for such. If there is any "embarrassment", it could well be that of your own, considering your spelling. Proofread your work in the future sonny.

No matter how good the numbers, it was still against predominantly minor league competition.

let me help.....I graduated from Tech and love that school and would help that school do what ever I could.....I wanted to go to LSU very bad but because of family issues I had to stay close to home..(I am from Haughton, LA)
I was a fan of LSU before i even knew there was a school in Ruston i grew up watching the Tigers in every sport possible....and that didn't change because I went to tech to get my degree
I love both schools very much but I am an LSU fan first because I was born with purple and gold running through my mind...but i will never root against Tech....when they play i just sit back and hope the best for both teams....
and if the Tigers lose it takes me way longer to get over it than when Tech loses at any sport

Actually, they played only the 1st half or the 1st 3 quarters in many games... the numbers would have been much higher if they would have played entire games.
Their best game ever was at Nebraska... the year after Nebraska won the National Championship. Rattay threw for 590 yards and Edwards caught 21 passes for 405 yards.
The funniest thing about that was that Edwards dared Nebraska to play him man to man in the newspapers before the game.... and they did!
To say this duo was no good is to be ignorant of who they were in college and what your current OC is capable of doing to defenses.

I was an LSU fan before I went to Tech. I was a fan during the Arnspager era when Nacho, Andolsek, Wendell Davis, Tommy Hodson, Toby Caston, Michael Brooks, and those guys were at LSU. Then I graduated from high school and enrolled at Tech and became a Bulldog and grew to eventually root against LSU.
I do appreciate that you still love the Dawgs though.

T1, I don't mean this in a bad way. Just an honest question. If you were a true LSU fan before going to Tech, what happened at Tech to change your mind? I went to a few games, and was never excited by the crowd of 5,000 people as compared to pulling for a Louisiana team that has chances seemingly every year for national championships. Was it just because it's a smaller school and you were pulling for the underdog in the state, or something else?

Living in Ruston I definitely support LaTech, but my loyalty for my entire life has 1st gone to LSU, and it always will. I can understand why some LaTech fans despise LSU fans, especially since they are kinda treatedike neglected step children even in Ruston, where loyalties are much stronger to LSU. Most all prominent athletes at RHS go to LSU when given the chance, and there are many LSU alumn and boosters here as well that pump more into LSU than the home town Techsters... It will always be that way. Most of the hate from Tech fans I hear is usually from out of state Alumni and students

FWIW, Nebraska still beat them 56-27 and that is why Louisiana Tech will always be Louisiana Tech. Nebraska did not win the National Championship that year. They went 9-4.

I wouldn't call myself "a true LSU fan." I went to a few games between 1986 and 1988 (maybe 4 or 5) and I watched them on TV. I never "bled purple and gold" like some of you guys were brought up. My dad played football at LSU for 1 year and he was kind of a fan like me.
I played baseball at Tech and I guess that built my passion for the athletic dept. My first year at Tech, our football team lost to Auburn 16-14 on a last second FG and I figured if Tech could play with Auburn, then I could jump on that bandwagon pretty easily. My second year at Tech the football team went to the Independence Bowl and the crowd was electric.... it seemed that Tech was a true up-and-comer in college football and I have been loyal to the Dawgs ever since.

Crowton wasn't real big on playing good defense!
(Nebraska won the National Championship in '97 and we opened with them in '98).

This issue lends itself to the age-old nature vs nurture debate:
I personally believe that with intense training, the right encouragement, and a supportive network of family and friends, Tech folks are geneologically as capable of developing real, functional and normal penises as say, Auburn folk are...
From a DNA standpoint they are no different from LSU fans, they just need a helping hand.
