What has changed in the LSU football culture that juniors aren't fleeing for the NFL?

Is this simply a matter of different kinds of leaders on the team?
Is it a matter of coaches doing better sales jobs on them to stay for another year?
Is it just an overall better environment going on behind the scenes than what we've had in the past?
I have no way of knowing, but it would seem like a combination of all of these. Just want to know which of them is most responsible for stopping the mass exodus of eligible players to the NFL.

Orgeron
He’s not perfect but this is an undeniably different culture and environment than we had under Les

Every situation for every player is different.
All of these guys make sense, justblike the ones leaving will make sense.
Last year we had several guys go that many thought should have stayed.
That has always been the case, always will be. It comes in cycles.
But looking like we are making a serious run makes it easier for guys to make the decision to stay, for sure.
That happened in 2016 as well.
Hopefully things go better this time
ETA: Agreed with the other poster that said seeing Clemson blow up the way they did this year influenced these guys as well.
Timing is everything.

I think it’s O. I also think, and this probably isn’t a popular opinion, that the defensive guys see that the offense is going to be good enough to compete for a national championship. I believe during the end of Miles’s career we were losing some guys because they realized the offense was never going to be good enough to win so we might as well get out here now. It’s just a theory.

I think The pay structure changes have helped, used to be random and negotiable but now there are non-negotiable set wages based on where you are drafted, so It pays to wait.
Also the evaluation method with nfl committee

That sounds very plausible.

At the end of Les' time here I believe one of our bigger recruiting pitches to players was to use LSU for 3 years as a platform to get into the league.
If you've even remotely followed the off-season chatter from players on Twitter over the last ten years it's pretty obvious that it a much different culture at LSU right now, lot of guys who have really bought into the program and that want to stick around to possibly be a part of something special.

There may be a culture shift, I don’t know. But one thing’s for sure, these guys are getting much better draft prospect information. When you have good information, and not just people blowing smoke to get paid, then the ones who might not get drafted are more likely to opt for another year playing in college and to finish their degree.

Totally agree. Why would that be unpopular?

Disagree here.
2016 was our best year in a long time for returning seniors.
Beckwith, White, Pocic, Neal all came back to be a part of what could have been a great year with LF and that 14 class.

Lsu may not have been a true rebuilding job but a culture change was still needed to be made and I think O has done that.

To me it’s a Perfect storm of the following until it can be labeled a pattern
Fulton & Fehoko both injured. Easy decision
Divinity really only came on 2nd part of season. A full year of what he did may have ended in a different result
Rashard Lawrence is 20. So unless he needs money there’s no reason for him to go.

Depends on the kid. Les’ last year, Tre White and Beckwith stayed.
Last year, Weathersby and Clapp left.

Yes and Miles was fired because of this. He had the opportunity to update his offense and have a special year and he didn’t and was rightfully let go. If Miles would have made the changes necessary and not wasted that opportunity he may have turned the trend around himself

They saw what Clemson did.

O not killing them in practice like Les did.

No doubt the culture is better than it was 4-5 years ago. That’s why kids didn’t hesitate to declare for the draft no matter where or if they would be drafted. It wouldn’t surprise me if current players talk to those former players and are told to stay in college unless you’re a first or second round pick. It’s not worth coming out to be another Malachi Dupre or Toby Weathersby. O and staff also seem to be giving them good information. Plus, we should be really good next year which is attractive.
