All 3 backs lined up there at some point

I don’t know if they’ll fit like Clyde did. He was perfect for that wrinkle.

Look at the second LSU offensive play from scrimmage.

On the very next play, Brennan misses Racey McMath get completely behind the defense for an easy TD against a cover zero look.

Instead, he took off running, got his arse popped & failed to pick up the 3rd down.

You just didn’t watch dude. Literally quarter 1 we were doing that.

We didn't motion the back in and out of the backfield either to make them show their coverage. We also didn't have the underneath short little check down. Those things were key to last year's success. Can't understand why we would go away from that.

They both left the program MAKING 24 GUYS WHO LEFT OR JUST COULD NOT PLAY.

THAT'S why we lost. As to why we didn't do these different things? I don't know, but probably because our inexperienced guys could not even get their assignments right on the vanilla stuff we were running. Are you seriously proposing we should have gussied it up and made it even more complex?

I have to admit that there is some logic here. Perhaps if it was even more complex the players would have made two errors, canceling each other out and putting them in the right place after all!

Like I said, I saw Gilbert our wide a handful of times, but not in the same way we used Moss last year to make the defense declare.

DO you think teams view him as a TE?
First play of the game we had 3WR, Gilbert, Curry, and State had 2 linebackers in the game, 6 in the box. It was like that most of the night, yet we rarely ran against the 6 in the box, and when we did, it was a positive outcome.

Oh and this was on the Brennan, hit arm pick.

He has to see the guy open before he can let it go. That will never work. And, I don't think it is something that can be learned.

Every good QB in the world see that look and can't get rid of the ball quick enough because they see TD.

One of the interesting soundbites after the game was Brennan's who was pleased by his play. That's an implicit admission of what his expectations are of himself. He thought he played well. The real story is he might be right.

That would have been a TD with a quality QB. But, even if you missed McMath, he could have sat in the pocket forever on that play until someone broke free.

They want to believe that the offense was different with Brennan, that the OL was a complete failure, that the skill position players suck, but never wanna blame Brennan.

The dude just flat-out can’t execute this offense. So many of the OL busts could’ve been fixed with a check from the QB and keeping a back in to block. So many conversions and touchdowns could’ve been made if Brennan just had some testicular fortitude. Our WRs bailed him out on a lot of throws and were open all day.

This offense with Joe was a Bugatti Veyron and with Myles it’s a 2005 Mustang with a V6.

ETA: and to the people that say that Myles needs time playing to get used to the speed, you’re a joke. His bad traits are exactly the same after four years removed from high school. I was banned from TD for posting about how bad his traits were coming out of HS. The dude has played in a lot of games as a backup and was given a chance to win vs Troy in 2017.

Curry was split out, too. I think you guys just want to believe the offense was different.
Absolutely, there was a thread on the scoreboard after the game saying that “our offense is identical to how it was pre 2019”. It’s like oh really? We used to run I formation with a full back and tight end and either 1 or 2 wideouts on a huge percentage of possessions.

He's a matchup nightmare. He made some freshman mistakes on saturday, but he's going to be a force once he works out the kinks. He's too fast for a safety and too physical and big for a corner.

Exactly. If Brennan would have saw the entire field & made the right reads, he would have thrown for close to 600 yards & 6 TDs.

You just described Gilbert, Marshall, and McMath.
Why we aren't finding the one on ones and throwing the ball up to them is stupid. It's what Burrow did time and time again. YOu want to double Chase, fine, i'll find a wide open single covered Jefferson all day. You want to double Jefferson, fine, i'll throw it up in single coverage knowing Chase will make the play 90% of the time.
We have the superior talent. Let them show it off. Give them the chance. THa'ts all we did last year. Here Clyde, here's a one on one, make a play. Here Chase, here's a one on one, make a play. It's simple when you're more talented.

Because Brennan flat out missed guys running wide arse open in the Bulldogs secondary all game long, almost on every drive.
