You are correct Keltic!
They are their own worst enemy and acted like we needed them!

The only teams in state we should schedule for TS are Tulane, ULL, and Tech.

NO MORE FCS SCHOOLS, PLEASE!

Wouldn't they need a football team?

*checks internet*

Well, slap my arse and call me Sally. Tulane still has a football team.

Huh. I had no idea.

For us "Old Fans". We enjoyed the series, The train ride was fun. Home and home would be nice, especially for Tulane to make the visitor fee with little transportation cost.
I would much rather play them than the out of state schools we play

People that keep saying "I would rather Tulane than _______" forget about the fact that those other teams don't demand we play them at their stadium.

Those rent a wins a perfectly content with being our football prostitutes. We pay them; they leave. Tulane always wants LSU to give up a home game to travel to their retractable 30,000 seat stadium. No thanks...

There's no way we could do a home-and-home with them now anyway. The on-campus stadium is tiny.

We would play them in the Superdome. Problem for at least one season I can recall was the Tulane would only sell LSU tickets with their season ticket package.

I could probably tolerate resuming the series, but due to that way things have changed, we could not afford to do a home and home. It would have to be Baton Rouge only. Truth be told though, Tulane could financially profit from that arrangement if they would get their head out of their arse.

Until then, we have nothing to gain playing them. I would do it strictly on a rotating basis between Tulane, ULL, NSU, Tech, and ULM.

Tulane, USL, NSU & ULM have not sold their allotment of tickets. Their fans do not care. Why should LSU fans care more than them? LSU baseball games gives them all in-state money to help their athletic depts..though I have a major issue with helping the weenies financially with the way they have treated LSU fans over the years. Do I like paying SEC type money for game tickets to games like Chatt? No. But my bitch is that the LSU athletic dept only looks at an OCG from one perspective, how much money can it not spend to schedule a game in T.S. I'll take a Rice game over any in-state school in a heartbeat. But for the greenies, go back in time when LSU played them in a super regional to determine who went to Omaha. That athletic dept that some LSU fans here are so hungry to help gouged LSU fans for tickets. And laughed about it openly.

Tulane to get better

That's what I was told but FCS, Sun Belt and C-USA team don't seem like much of an up grade - thus it has to be money. Tulane would require home and home games and the others do not. Just my thought - could be wrong.

supposedly Tulane insisted on playing a home and away game, like they had the stones to merit that. If they want to come take their arse-whipping in Tiger stadium every few years it can be done, but we aren't going down there to play them. Personally I would like to see them put in the rotation with all the La schools, before playing Chattanooga, Troy State, etc. Keep the money in-state for our rent-a-wins.

We should play Tulane every year home and away. This rivalry goes back to 1893 and should never had ended. There were whole groups of people with yearly events like the wheelbarrow push in which the loser fans have to push around the winners in a wheelbarrow. Good times. Historical. Tradition. That's what's wrong with people nowadays they throw everything away. Money isn't everything. Y'all grow up one day but you'll never know if traditions. Idiots

But...did you know that back in '73 Tulane beat us in Tulane Stadium, the old Sugar Bowl, before more than 86,000 fans, the vast majority of them supporting TULANE!!!

So what happened? At least w/ LSU-TULANE there's a rivalry with tradition (remember the purple/ green rag with emblems of each school) and occasional hijinx by visiting fans on the host's field. It was fun, and it was vibrant.

Now what tradition is there in games involving Mercer, or Lipscomb, or Stony Brook? Bring back TULANE!

Not no, but hell no. Tulane use to be solid but they've sucked arse for decades. Playing Tulane in NOLA is a non-starter.

Put Tulane in the in-state rotation. Nothing more.

Multiple Choice: name the football team who completed an undefeated season in the last 19 years:

1)Notre Dame
2)Michigan
3)LSU
4)Tulane

Aren't there a million threads on this already? It ranks up there with "why don't we play Southern?"

Geez. If LSU, Mich or ND played Tulane's schedule they would go unbeaten every single year. And if Tulane played any of those schedules of those 3...wow.

One good year against inferior teams in decades earns them a home game in Nola? LSU should never play such teams on the road. Alleva getting rid of the Tulane deal was one of the few smart things he did.

LSU gives up enough home games as it is.
