If you read this board, you’d see that the average LSU fan expects at least a 10 point win

Are the pundits refusing to read all the positive practice reports or the reports about how confident the coaches are?

vegas figures the original spread trying to get the betting to come out 50-50, and does as scientific analysis as can be done. the spread then moves with the betting. so more gamblers have been taking Texas and the spread. vegas counters by shrinking the spread to even the betting. Vegas doesn't know and doesn't care about who wins.

For the 10th billion time. Vegas doesnt make a line as to who will win. They make a line to try to get bets to wash out. So they can just rake in the fee money and move alone. Please stop worrying about the Vegas lines as a judge to which team they think will win.

This just in fans of a team are overly optimistic about their team.

In my mind, I think we’re seeing the same “fill in the blank team is BACK!” hype like we saw last year with Miami. College football is better with the classic powerhouses being strong and many media member want UT or Miami to be back to break up the mundane Clemson vs Alabama in the NC every year.

Also, I don’t think many are considering returning production. ESPN’s FPI considers that a big factor and it shows on their rankings. OL returning production is huge, and UT is down there. Whereas LSU is returning 4/5 starters from last year.

We are optimistic about our team and we know Texas will be less experienced and less talented than us. We SHOULD win the game by around 10 points. But as we know anything can happen when the team steps on the field. It’s just that as fans we like to think that the thing that should happen will happen.

Most here felt that LSU would do far better than most experts believed last season, despite what you now read here. I think it has to do with simply being more locked into the team than any national pundit can be.

As for the Texas thing, it's partly due to knowing our team more than national guys do, and partly homerism.

Right now, LSU looks good on paper. None of us know what’s going to happen, but I’m very optimistic.

Yeah. Vegas doesn't care at all about any of that.

So you are under the impression that LSU is the only team with positive practice reports and confident coaches

I'm high on LSU and very low on Texas. People keep forgetting Texas is hardly returning jack shite from last year
