Just keep him away from Burns! PM brings nothing worthwhile to anything.

What I'm arguing is the fact that this dumb arse suggested that Mainieri told Crews not to swing with 2 strikes.

Wait are there actually people that think CPM told Crews to take on a 3-2 count?

The very first line of the post is suggesting that Mainieri may have told him not to swing at all, so he didn't.

It also comes from the same dude he said it was an 0-3 count too. So, consider the source.

Yes there are people who think that. If you think PM didn’t tell him not to swing at all then you are defending PM. That’s what I have observed from some of the brilliant posters here.

I generally think that it has moved to he struck out because CPM broke his concentration by meeting with him.

Yeah there has been both, but I’ve been accused of being a “shameful” defender of PM even after acknowledging that the meeting could have messed with Crews concentration. That’s because I said there was no way he told Crews not to swing at all and that goes against what some of the posters here wanted to believe. Somehow that qualifies as a defense of the meeting.

Sounds like a convenient fairy tale.

Here is a what if: what if he wanted to tell the player with less than a .300 average against SEC pitching and the third most strikeouts on the team that the umpire is calling everything high a strike? Maybe that’s why Cruz was smiling after the second strike.

I think it's time for Paul to retire. Something is missing, and this year is unacceptable for LSU. However, I appreciate what's he's done as a coach at LSU. The depths that some of these idiots will go to put blame on Mainieri is ridiculous though. I mean how can anybody suggest that ANY baseball coach would tell a kid not to swing with 2 strikes, much less a very successful college baseball coach. It's absurd.

And these same people completely ignore that Crews has not been the best in situations with RISP at lots of moments throughout the year.

This isn’t the first time PM has done this. He has done this before and generally without any controversy.

Fans looking for a defining moment to fire Mainieri dwell on stuff like this. I think it’s time PM retires, but these little “incidents” have nothing to do with why. The overall decline of our team and the lack of energy around the program is the big reason, and not PM’s TO.

I have no problem with him pulling a player over to talk to him but the rest of the at bat was horrible. He had two pitches he could have put into play and yet decided to stand ther and look foolish...... a bad choice all around.

He said take pitches. This team doesn't have enough talent to make any noise in regionals. LSU needs have a great recruiting class.
