They were absolutely pitching around him. The pitcher tried to walk him. First base was open and Crews's run couldn't win the game.
You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. Putting Crews on base brings the tying run to the plate. The fact that Crews run couldn’t tie or put us ahead on its own is the exact reason why they wanted to go after him, not walk him.

Yeah, I think he is getting a bit too sentimental in his older age. Occasionally putting guys in spots because he loves them and wants them to do well, not because they are the best one for that situation. That said, I think he has done alright this series. Maybe time for him to be an analyst or something. But I’m not sure sure he’s the best man as a head coach anymore.

You are absolutely right. Paul just has a bad habit of overcoaching at times. And, to the contrary, just sitting idly at times when they need him. Call it his hunches, if you will. I will agree that they've paid dividends at times, but they're mostly dog crap.

Keep thinking that. You're about as difficult to read as a picture book.

No, you just keep trying to put words in my mouth and force a narrative that isn’t there. You’re not looking at what I’m saying. You’re trying to add some PM defense into every post I make which is really weird. Again, learn a new tactic. I literally said “that’s baseball” right after saying Crews would probably come through next time. You turned it into a defense of PM. How about you stop making stuff up and my posts won’t be so hard for you to read.

Really? I thought the play with 1 out and first base open was to pitch around the batter? Set up the force.

Situationally that is a good play. But not when it brings the tying run to the plate. Especially when it’s the middle of the lineup.

Never in that situation. Maybe if the run on second was more important (6-5 or 6-6 game already) and you didn’t want Crews to have a chance to drive him in.

You said you don't defend Paul and then dropped his favorite one liner when something goes wrong

Again I said “that’s baseball” in reference to Crews probably coming through next time. How is that something going wrong or defending Paul?

You're melting now. Just relax, bro

This is a nice play. Too bad I’m not melting. It’s annoying having to remind you a hundred times to read before you post. I’m definitely not melting over someone like you. I can assure you.

Only a couple more weeks of you having to defend this shite show

What did I defend again? I’ll be waiting for you to explain this one

Never have I ever heard of a coach icing his own batter by having a meeting with him

I'm not even talking about the fact that he may or may not have "iced" him by calling a time out. That's certainly a debatable topic, and can be argued either way.

What I'm arguing is the fact that this dumb arse suggested that Mainieri told Crews not to swing with 2 strikes.

Quit defending PM. It’s past time for a new coach. You sunshine pumpers are sickening. Did I do that right?

Quit “melting”. I’m sorry you weren’t able to execute your game plan again today. That makes you 0 for what now?

Pail probably told Crews the pitcher’s tendency to throw a certain pitch in that situation. The pitcher/coach took that cue to go against the book and throw a pitch Crews wasn’t expecting.

Whatever he told him didn’t work. This seems to be the norm with this coach lately

Well, if true, he would have said, son you struck out on 3 straight pitches.
