So all Fall NCAA D1 sports championships have been cancelled except football. Where does basketball fit? They start in the Fall, but play for the championship in March which is in the Spring? Cancelled or not?

Fall does not equal winter.

Like the OP said, basketball starts in the fall, so I'd also like some clarification. Given that the bulk of the season is played during the winter, I'd consider it a winter sport.

But logic and common sense have never applied since they first starting canceling everything back in March. A little clarification wouldn't hurt.

Basketball is considered a winter sport. There are three sports calendars for ncaa. Fall, winter and spring.

I read about the possibility of a bubble, but I'm still not sure how they would arrive at that. Sure, if a conference only schedule worked and created a top 16, then a bubble would work for a championship. But, a bubble just can't work for an entire conference, so it will come down to how well a conference only schedule works.

Thanks. I knew there were three calendars, I just wasn't sure which one basketball fell under, considering it spans over the fall, winter and spring.

And, like I said, everything is so nonsensical right now, that it made me a little nervous for basketball. i think it's going to be a special year for that team, and I'd hate for it to be screwed over.

And, yes, I get that a bubble would work for conference only if all of the players were distance/virtual learning. Just seems like a huge LOL to the kids learning in person because they're not athletes.

Our fearless leader has been screwed out of two NCAA tournaments. He will not be denied again.

Wouldn't Title 9 require a women's basketball bubble

99.2% Recover Completely!

And no athlete, college or professional, has died from coronavirus. Zero.

Facts.

What are we doing? We have believed a lie.

Never has. Say it a little louder for the folks in the Big 10 and Pac-12 (and anyone else who hasn't figured it out, yet).
