Remember when we were all upset when Shea Patterson committed to Ole Miss. Then, Feleipe Franks decommitted in November 2015 after being committed to us for a year and half, and we were even more salty. We ended up getting Danny Etling and Joe Burrow as a result. Give me those two guys all day over Shea and Feleipe.

Danny and Joe remind me of each other. Joe obviously has way more physical gifts, but Danny was athletic and gritty. He wasn't as swagged out as Joe either, but he had his own confidence. And they are both just as solid as they come. We've been lucky with QBs the last 4 years.

Without Danny, Coach O might not have either gotten the full-time gig (remember the A&M road win solidified his position in Alleva's mind, a game that we put up over 50 points) nor might he have kept his job the following year as things were teetering and could have easily completely come apart after the Troy loss. All Danny did was stay calm, do his job, and help us to wins over Florida on the road and a top 10 ranked Auburn team in Tiger Stadium after giving them a 20 point head start.

We finished that season with only one more loss, to that team in Tuscaloosa. It was just enough to help Coach O get through the Canada experiment, elevate Coach E to OC, and get Burrow to transfer.

And here we are.

I liked Danny thought he was a tough QB. He would’ve done well in this offense.

Danny over Shea is not something I can get behind. While it's nice to have a transfer QB come in to bail us out, we really need to start recruiting and developing QB's ourselves. transfer QB's is an unsustainable way to run a program. I think Brennan is going to look good in this offense because he has a quick trigger, and so will the winner of the Finley-Johnson-Parrish battle if we are still running this style of offense by then

Lol tell that to Lincoln Riley. He’s on his 3rd transfer QB, Likely 3rd playoff appearance, and 3rd Heisman candidate/winner.

damn that's a fair point, can't argue with that. maybe that's the direction CFB is heading with the transfer portal, but currently, OU is the exception and not the rule, and the traditional way to build a perennial powerhouse is to develop your own QBs. just look at LSU in the early 2000's with Rohan, Mauck, Russell, and Flynn.

I agree with you but I think that we will start getting more highly rated QBs looking to come to LSU now that we have an offense that can showcase the skills that they have
