And were horrible from 3 (5 for 20) and only had EIGHT assists on 33 made buckets.

This team is just ridiculous on offense. Shows how talented a group we really have.

...if they could just become consistently better on defense then this could be a legitimate Final Four contender.

Right now they are 15th in offensive efficiency. And that's with back to back games struggling from 3. Unfortunately, after rising 20 spots in defensive efficiency after last week's game, they dropped back down 10 spots after last night's game.

Funny thing is I wouldn't have noticed. I had the game on in the background, but the part I really paid attention to we hit 4 of those pretty much back to back.

I think Waters nailed one, Mays went back to back, and then Naz hit one.

So 1 for 16 the rest of the game.

For the first time in a long time LSU can put 8 different players on the court and not have any dropoff.

That is the difference with this team.
All 8 are SEC caliber players and it's been a long time since LSU hoops has had that.

When you can substitute and still be able to have numerous scoring options on the court it takes a lot of pressure off the team and allows guys to rest and have the stamina to compete the last part of game.

We also seem to make a lot of free throws. Which is huge.

So much more enjoyable to watch than those Brady era teams which struggled to score 60 points

analysts are starting to notice how strong the team is. lsu can have a bad night in a certain area and still lead comfortably. one game recently, naz had 0 points, 2 fouls and sat out almost all of the 1st half and lsu was still ahead easily. i think many people are missing this characteristic

When they set their feet, most of those threes go in.

Worrisome is the huge drop off when 3 sits down.

The offense clearly takes a step back when he’s out. That said, Smart hasn’t been bad running the point. LSU still scores, it just via more one-on-one sets as opposed to Waters setting up other guys.

Waters had a huge game against UGA, but consider this:

Waters picked up his 2nd foul with 6:26 remaining in the 1st half and sat the rest of that half.

The score when he left was 30-23, at the end of the half, we were up 48-36. So we went from a 7 point lead to 12 point lead with Waters out for the last 6:26 that half. We also scored 18 points in just about 6 minutes time.

It doesnt always happen that way obviously when Waters goes out, I think start of 2nd half UGA had a run with Waters out maybe. But that does show they can play well without Waters, for a very extended period of time too (almost 6.5 game minutes).
