Was the hit on Clyde in the 3rd Q not illegal?

On the pass to CEH in the red zone, the ball was high and CEH reached up for it and the LB lit him up. Was he not considered a defenseless receiver?

I thought so. Helmet to the chin. Much worse than Devins push last year

This, leading with the crown to the chin. No clue how that wasn't seen.

Last year it would have been called. At the very least reviewed. The hit on Jefferson in the endzone was worse imo. The defender put the crown of his helmet into Justin's earhole. Pretty textbook, and happened right in front of the ref too.

They never showed a slo mo replay.
But in real time it looked like he launched and lead with the helmet.

The pass was high, I agree. I was just asking as a matter of perspective to what is or isn't ok.

I think what needs to be an emphasis on these calls is the defender launching. When you launch, you lose the ability to control your body. That’s wreckless.

quote:Yup. That was a textbook old-school "stick". Should have been flagged and reviewed.

honestly, I thought it was just a good aggressive play by the defender. It may have been close
Agree. We all wanted a call but the replay was pretty clear he just made a helluva play. Texas, like Florida, always has elite athletes on defense even when their team defense isn't considered elite.

Yes. Football message board etiquette only allows for talking about stuff in the future that hasn’t happened yet.
