Fuentes’ name was frequently mentioned as a better alternative to O.
ODU was 0-3.

Without a doubt, especially considering OD is an FCS team...

ETA: not an FCS team anymore, but still a worse loss than Troy.

frick yes. We got beat by 3. Troy had double digits wins.

ODU won by two scores and not only that, scored 49.

This board would commit suicide if that was us.

Troy would beat half the sec this year.
I wasn’t aware ODU even had a football team.. so there’s that.

No, OD is in conference USA.

They were previously winless though.

Old dominion win was worse for VT. FCS team beating a top 15 FBS school by more than one score.

Losing AT Old Dominion for a program like VT is more understandable than losing at home to Troy for a program like LSU.

Yeah way worse. And I admit I wanted (and probably still want) Fuente at LSU.

That was an historically bad loss. Troy was really really bad, but they were a decent 10 win squad and would beat a lot of P5 teams last year and this year.

Sidenote: Old Dominion's running back is a big ole boy with good speed and moves. He was a warrior.

Link to RB I'm mentioning. Seems he is pretty bad otherwise, but played out of his mind Saturday

It's one of the most inexplicable losses I've seen in college football. Way way way worse than losing to an 11-2 Troy team that won their conference.

Liberty, a team who is spending their first year in FBS beat Old Dominion 52-10 this season! I simply dont understand how Virginia Tech lost to them, and actually soundly was beaten 49-35.

Way, way worse.

ODU was 0-3 and blown out by Liberty at the beginning of the year. There were 50-something FCS teams ranked ahead of them in I believe the S&P.

Troy was actually a decent team last year that I believe was on the verge of being ranked (although their win against us was a big boost).

I used to live in Norfolk and I can tell you that Troy is a much bigger/better program than ODU. LSU still shouldn't have lost to Troy, but VT losing to ODU is worse.

They have only even had a program since 2009 and their stadium holds about 20k. Also, about 35-40% of Norfolk and the Hampton Roads area are VT fans.

No doubt about that.

LSU was coming off a blowout against MSU and a mediocre win over Syracuse and was still a 21 point favorite over Troy.

VT was 2-0 and a 28 point favorite against ODU.

It’s making me laugh seeing all of the rant “homerun hires” struggle this year.

Absolutely ! ODU’s program is in year 9. Should be have lost to Troy? No, but Troy can stay on the field with almost any D-1 school on any Sat.

Absolutely. We would not only demand the coach be fired, but we would also call for the head of any AD who would ever consent to a game AT Old Dominion. That is roughly the equivalent of us playing AT UL-Monroe.

Didn't Troy just get another big win last week? Not saying we should lose to them, but they're not ODU.

I went to High School in NOVA, and most of my friends went to Tech. Yes, they are beyond apoplectic about that loss. Same level of disgust we had about Troy.
