Very simple, it’s a talent issue. Our guards are to small.

You look at the last two games. Hannibal and hill can’t get a shot off or a pass through the longer guards. They can’t defend their man in the paint either. That’s where lsu is getting beat

Height isn’t the problem. Their carelessness with the ball is the biggest issue. They played well at Murray just don’t think they can handle SEC level competition.

If you didn’t notice the difference in length for Florida over LSU I don’t know what to tell you.

There’s plenty undersized guards in college basketball who are outstanding players.
None are on this current team.

We don't have talent to compete for an SEC title for sure, but I do think the lack thereof has been overstated here, but I'll get to that later - specifically to your point.

I have been concerned about playing two small guards at once too often. I'd like to see more time from No. 11 and at least some time for Mwani.

I do think at this point halfway through the season, it's apparent Juice is getting more minutes than he's earned. I was happy to get him and he obviously gave something of value to Murray ST., but to this point he's not giving whatever that was here, and I do think CMM has given him more than enough time.

Would he have done better last night had Hayes played, almost certainly yes. I would say from now on and until he starts giving CMM what he did at Murray or at least gives us "something" in a game that any more than 10 minutes is hurting the team.

Heres the thing, I came into this season with very low expectations and the mindset to give our new Coaching Staff time to get the recruits and their system implemented.

But then we beat Arkansas and it gave me hope. And now we are back to performing exactly how I expected before the season started.

We have 2-3 scorers at most if Cam Hayes is feeling it. And because we have an injured Wilkinson and cannot get production from other players it allows the defense to key in on Miller and KJ.

KJ being so big and strong still gets his production but with so much attention on Miller hes not getting good looks most the time so he just ends up jacking up a shot and cannot get into a rhythm.

It is no small thing that we eat the entire shot clock to try to slow the game down to get us a fighting chance. We are not a very good team right now.

I would like to see Wilkinson get healthy and back in the lineup because he plays good defense and can knock down 3's. Cam Hayes needs to get healthy so he can also knock down shots and help to give Miller a few more open looks a game.

Coach McMahon hopefully will get a few more pieces next season and return Miller to field a better team next season.

The Bigs are too soft and get pushed around. And you need another scorer, mainly a shooter.

Right now, Guard play is killing this team.
If Hill and Hannibal are on the court at the same time, you're in serious trouble as neither can throw it in the ocean. And both have been careless with the ball.
Then add to that, Miller thinks he's a sharp-shooter and it makes it worst. On this team, he is a shooter. But over the last month, a pretty bad one.
KJ can only do so much. Fountain is OK, but isn't strong enough and fouls too much. But, he plays hard and battles.
Hayes being gimpy just makes it that much worse as at least he's been a capable shooter.
J Williams also can't shoot a lick.
Ward looks to have a nice shot, but is completely lost on the court. Same for Reed. Both are Freshman, so somewhat expected.
Wilkinson has been MIA most of the season, I will assume due to injury.

This is just a flawed team that struggles to score unless 1 or 2 guys can get hot.
Even worst the last 2 games is the careless TO's.

All that said, CMM was dealt a pretty crappy hand. So it will take a little time to retool this team.

I'd like to see Ward getting more minutes. He looks a sluggish on defense, but he has length, range, and a very high ceiling.

Yea and every 6’ QB is great because Drew Brees was great.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever watched basketball but being taller is definitely an advantage.

Outside of Williams we lack talent. We have no shooters, no scorers, and are weak inside on D. This is a talent issue plain and simple. We have one!

So is it a talent or a size issue cause those two things are not the same?

We need to stop throwing the ball away and stop throwing up 35ft shots that have no chance. Every time we got close we came down and threw up a crazy shot

The issue is our best rebounders last night we’re guards. I don’t know the final tally, but at one point Hannibal and Hill were our leading rebounders. Hannibal has a desire for the ball that our big men would do well to emulate.

Our big men are absolutely terrible at rebounding. It is attitude, not athleticism. Rebounding is accomplished with effort and tactics. Our big guys possess neither in the rebounding department.

Ward is the answer to your issue and he should be getting more PT. he did last night and hit the only 3 pointers in the game. he is long and lanky. Plays good D also. I think we will be seeing more of him as the season goes. Cam would have helped a lot last night but Hannibal needs to quit giving up the ball so much when he drives to the goal. He did it against A&M. He also needs to work on his mid range shot as they are playing off him more to prevent him from driving. He has a 15 footer pretty much anytime he wants it. Allen is getting open shots but he isn't hitting them. he did go to the rim more last night. Would like to see more of that. But 17 TO's? That was the game last night even with the poor shooting.

Thank God McMahon is killing it in recruiting. We’ll be better in no time. Oh wait, our class is ranked 49th in the country and we don’t have a single consensus top 100 player.
