Does FSU have a week 0 game next year? How is it possible for LSU to play a week 0 opponent 3 years in a row

I forgot about this game. I don't know if I’ll make the pilgrimage to Orlando.

I checked the FSU website and right now, they don't have any football games listed on the website for next year.

I simply think we should play the cupcake to start and work out the kinks.

Charles Hanagriff said this today and I agree, ADs should always schedule a Week 0 game. You get everybody on campus a week earlier, you get a warmup game to work out the kinks, and most importantly you get 2 byes in the SEC.

Cannot be done as Grambling does not play at Hawaii

If it’s not possible then is it possible to have someone come in and do a scrimmage?

The only way to play a game in Week 0 is either travel to Hawaii and play them or play an opponent that travels to Hawaii that season. The reason for Week 0 is to allow those teams traveling to Hawaii to have an extra bye week because of the time change and distance. Duquesne plays Hawaii this year. FSU noticed that and scheduled them. LSU could do the same next year if it chose to and a team was available but you can't just schedule anybody you want to play a Week 0 game.

Probably will be 80/20 FSU fans after last weekend's debacle.
LSU may be coming off a 6 - 6 season, if we can win 3 SEC games, and FSU fans will think we are an easy victory to start next season.

Oh look, another guy who has no idea what the criteria for a week 0 game is.

Does Grambling play in Hawaii in 2023?

No they do not and there is no one on their schedule who would qualify for a week 0 game.

It is actually to allow teams who play in Hawaii to schedule an extra game to offset the expense of travel to Hawaii. Contrary to popular belief on this site FSU did not schedule the week 0 game a month or so before the LSU game, they did it in February of 2021, though it was after the LSU/FSU matchups were scheduled.

So in other words, start the season a week earlier and extend the overall season by a week without adding more games to the schedule.

Great idea until starting QB blows his knee out in a meaningless game. Would be meltdown of epic proportions..

That can happen in any rent-a-win game. The benefits of playing week zero outweigh the risks of a random freak injury.
