Venables can draw up whatever scheme he wishes, but they do not have

the personnel to beat LSU. I think it is as simple as that. I may be wrong, but I do not see them being able to confuse/pressure Burrow.

On the other hand, I like the LSU defense against the Clemson offense. I see it limiting the run, including that of TL, and putting the game on his arm. We'll see if he has the skill to win it that way.

We heard the same thing about Venables before the 2003 National Championship Game.

I know it's a different team and a lot of years have passed but come on...I'm tired of hearing it.

Every single good team we have played has shown up with something new they did not show us on film. They all tried to disguise and deceive with new schemes. It did not work for anyone.

Joe Brady and Steve ensminger have shown they are extremely capable of adjusting. Basically for venelables to have success he has to confuse us all game.

Matchup wise they cannot hang. So unless we can just flat out not answer what they are doing I do not see it being the factor everyone makes it out to be.

Simmons is the key for Clemson . With a 3 down defensive front Joe/Helaire will have a lot of success when running the APO; Simmons will have to commit to the run or quick slants. Hopefully LSU added an inside screen as well.
With a 4 down defensive front and man press coverage Joe just needs to read the deep middle safety and then exploit the weakest match up on the outside; if LSU has success they will be forced to using more zone coverage; once that happens; see ya later. IMO

Great thing about facing so many great defenses. We have seen pretty much everything.

I don’t think any one scheme will win the game for Clemson. Disguising and switching should be their strategy. If I’m Coach E, I’m preaching patience to break thru the disguises and doing things to limit their options on defense. They are a well coached championship team with talent so we should expect to have to earn the victory. I expect it to be a chess match for much of the night.

I say we come out in I form tight and let Tory Carter bust some heads for a few plays.

That'll throw them for a loop

Was listening to an interview with Jimmy Burrow on the radio earlier and he was commenting about this.

Said that going back to GA Southern every D we have faced has tried different looks from what Joe has seen on film.

14-0

Run plenty of tempo and Joe will figure it out.

I think Clemson is the 5th best team we've played this year. Change my mind.

to be fair, Auburn's defensive scheme was the best we've faced.
and the reason it worked is b/c they could generate pressure w/o blitzing.
Clemson's best rushers are in the NFL. they lost 2 really good ones.
Venables will have to blitz to get pressure and that's what will allow us to get the big, explosive plays.

OSU played like crap in the red zone.Fields is not near as good as Burrow and Brady. OSU should have won by 10. They just didn't play good ball for 60 minutes. Played good for about 20.

I expect they will try every odd zone and man scheme to keep Joe guessing. But I also expect that Joe has the mental capacity to adjust with the help from Slinger and Brady.

Advantage Joe.
