Against an easier schedule too. The fact is we ran Les Miles off because we wanted a significantly better, much more productive offense. Yet, by every objective measure, this year’s offense was worse than every Les Miles offense in 11 years except 2009 and 2014. So this was our 10th best offense in the last 12 seasons. But people can’t wait to kneel before Canada and suck his dick. It wasn’t acceptable with Les, how in God’s name is WORSE production acceptable now? If anything, with O’s limitations we need an incredibly productive offense. And 72nd in the nation in scoring ain’t gonna cut it. I don’t give a frick who our quarterback is.

A decent argument, but easily rebutted by pointing out that LSU averaged more possessions/game in 2016 so of course they would score more points.
A more meaningful metric is points per possession. The 2016 offense averaged 2.26 pts/possession and ranked 57th. The 2017 offense was at 2.35 for 44th. To be sure—a small improvement, but an improvement in a meaningful statistic nevertheless.

Yea. People that don't understand this or the circumstances are worth avoiding.

re: Canada.
They play actual defense in the SEC.
Thus, you can't make a direct comparison of things like rankings of YPG or PPG of say Big 12 teams vs. SEC teams.

I would have to disagree about being easier to defend. Two words - jet sweeps. The jet sweeps basically helped us to beat UF and Auburn. The jet sweeps even opened some things up for LSU against Bama (See D. Williams' long run which was a fake jet sweep). We had 6 first downs, 125 yards and 0 points against them last year. We had 16 first downs and over 300 yards against them this year.
We didn't set the world on fire or anything, but we had a total makeshift O-line with three freshman in there for a while and both of our RBs were hurt for a portion of the season (Guice was hurt for a long stretch). Also, we had no WRs that had a ton of experience playing. Considering what we were working with, he did a pretty good job.

The article says how Clemson's defensive coordinator is worth it, but says Aranda is barely worth it. Venables is good, but last year Clemson gave up 30+ points 4 times and 40+ points in their Pitt loss. They just had a phenomenal QB and offense that could outscore teams.
Aranda's D has given up 30+ twice in the last two years combined and that's with losing half the D to the NFL last year. And one of those two games was a blowout win in the last game of the regular season last year against aTm. Clemson's D gave up 69 points combined to Bama and Louisville last year. LSU's D gave up 19 points combined to the same teams.

I want to see a list of overpaid head coaches.

The summary on aranda is lazy to say the least.
Aranda is a wizard and underpaid.
Aranda is a wizard and underpaid.

I would have to disagree about being easier to defend.
2016 VS 2017 Average Defensive ranking faced by Yards per game
2016-51st----------LSU averaged 423 yards per game
2017-54th----------LSU averaged 412 yards per game
2016 vs 2017 Average defensive ranking faced by points per game
2016-49th-----------LSU averaged 28.3 pts per game
2017-59th-----------LSU averaged 28.1 pts per game
So, in both yards per game and pts per game, LSU played better defenses in 2016, yet still did better offensively in both categories...........
Canada did not do what he was paid to do, in fact, he did the opposite. He made our offense worse

Considering it was a different offensive scheme, we need more than just the first season to judge. It wasn't until the Auburn game from my recollection that you started to see more of the offense installed.

If going into the OC coaching search last year, if I would have said we would gain less yards and score less points this year, people would have fricking melted their faces off and said I was a nega tiger piece of shite.

It's too early to judge Canada's offense. This was the first year with an new offense. The team started off rough, but improved every game. I see no reason to be pessimistic about the offense under Canada next year. I don't even need to comment on the defense. I think Aranda is one of the best if not the best out there. The D improved dramatically as the year went on as well.

He deserved to be the HC as far as I'm concerned

I really do feel like I’m taking crazy pills on this. We are two of the very few without our heads in the sand. #staywoke

Last year, we had a more experienced O-line playing, our center was drafted in the 2nd round, we had two WRs who had played extensively for three years (with one getting drafted), we had the #5 pick in the draft at RB and when he was hurt (which was often last year), we had a healthy Guice filling in with no drop off.
This year, we had three freshman playing on the OL due to injuries, Guice was banged up for most of the year, D Williams was banged up too for a few games and questionable and our leading WR returning on this team had 26 catches last year. There were many challenges.
Against the top scoring defenses that we played- Auburn and Bama (both in the top 10), we scored 37 points combined (30 coming from the offense). Last year, we scored 18 points combined against those two teams. We more than doubled our yardage against Bama and we had more yards against Auburn too.

What if you had added in that they would run the ball more and throw less?

Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn all rank top 25 nationally in points per game. We rank 72nd. There is a very obvious correlation. Having a very good offense doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be an elite team. But you can’t be an elite team without a very good offense.
