Nick Saban Alabama $8,857,000
Jimbo Fisher Texas A&M $7,500,000
Kirby Smart Georgia $6,871,600
Gus Malzahn Auburn $6,827,589
Dan Mullen Florida $6,070,000
Mike Leach MSU $5,000,000
Mark Stoops Kentucky $4,763,600
Will Muschamp South Carolina $4,400,000
Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri $4,000,000
Ed Orgeron LSU $4,000,000
Lane Kiffin Ole Miss $3,900,000
Jeremy Pruitt Tennessee $3,846,000
Derek Mason Vanderbilt $3,368,244
Sam Pittman Arkansas $3,000,000

Weird situation for Woodward to be in. Coach O is not really a threat to leave LSU for another program. How much of a raise should he get at the end of this season? Keep in mind, this is still a business.

5.5 and double the performance incentives from their 2019 rate.

Coach O will for sure take a raise, but I could also see him taking much of the "raise" money and using it for coaches like maybe Brady or even on facilities. To Coach O LSU is bigger than him and he will do what he can to help the program to high levels;

He's beaten the following who get paid more than him, in some cases 2 and 3 times.

I'd be in favor of a small bump in the annual salary, but heavy incentives for the Championships and other criteria being met. That way, you're only paying in the years it is earned. Much like they mentioned him getting extra for 10 wins, SEC Champions, etc.

I think O is the kind of guy that likes them too. I can't see him suddenly becoming that massive title winning ego that most other coaches become after (assuming we win of course.)

Low-ball him and see how fast that changes. Pay him commensurate with what he's owed, or you give him the option to reallocate some of that to his coaches if he wants but do not nickel and dime him.

O will not hold LSU's feet to the fire either. He will allow room to keep paying coordinators, analysts, etc.

I’d go $6M plus incentives. Jimbo hasnt earned his but Saban has over 2 decades and he is just above that.

You don't give a raise just to give a raise.
You give a raise for retention.
Orgeron's voodoo works best at LSU. He knows that.

you cant strictly compare all SEC HC salaries without taking into account how much O's assistants are making as well.

He will get a raise, but I don’t think he honestly cares. An interesting comment from alleva was that O nor his agent ever brought up salary one time during the negotiations. He probably would have coached for a livable salary

He's not a risk to move on, but the man has earned his money. I think at least 6 M plus incentives. That puts in the bracket with the elite names in the conference and gets him out of the bracket he has no buisness in. There is no way O should be making the same as Eli at Mizzou

What the....? So in just about any other industry people are only given raises in order to keep them at their place of business when they threaten to leave? That is an asinine statement if I have ever heard one.

You give raises, first and foremost, as an award and appreciation for the performance/production that an employee has shown. Does this help to keep an employee happy and possibly deter them from looking around? Sure it does. But it should not be your sole reason for doing it.

O has performed and proven he deserves a raise, regardless if there is a threat to lose him to someone else. Now, like others have stated, I'm not suggesting you break the bank on it. Somewhere in the 6-6.5 million range is appropriate. And with the increased revenue LSU is already making on that performance, and I'm sure will continue to rake in from donors, they can afford it.
