We had a good QB and an elite WR group. However, the offensive line was middle of the road and left a lot to be desired at times in the running game, especially in the first half of the year. Run-blocking was not a strong suit. Also, our running backs were middle of the road. The seniors were mediocre, and the other guys hadn’t developed into anything yet.

The lack of a strong running game contributed greatly to our 2 losses.

If we're talking elite, I agree. It was a very good offense, but elite offenses dont put up only 3 points 1 game and 10 points in another.

It could have been a lot better. Unfortunately, using the pass to open up the run was a foreign concept at that point.

finished #11 in country in total Offense.
most teams ahead of them were smaller schools using some variation of the air raid that hadn’t taken prevalence that it has today.

simply amazing how talented they were to reach that ranking while also being so predictable.

Of course it was pretty good. It just wasn’t elite.

Quit being lazy/dramatic and pay attention to the nuance of my statement.

Seemed to recall Jimbo mentioning that at some point they went to a more pass first approach. I'm old and forgetful so maybe I'm off base.

I think they were elite at the end. It had Jamarcus and perhaps the best group of WRs we've had (Bowe, Davis, Early, and LaFell).

PS:they played 4 top-10 SEC road games (Auburn, UF, UTenn, and Arky).

2006 offense should’ve been more consistent.

Of course now we’re looking at the stacked rosters of our past teams and wondering which ones could’ve looked like 2019

I come to tigerdroppings because I don't want to go to reddit. So people that use "Unpopular Opinion: " and "Change my mind" need to keep that shite on reddit. Ask the question without trying to be hip and cute.

Nah you’re probably thinking of 01.

Our approach didn’t change all that much throughout. JR was always the focus of that offense. 06 actually got better running the ball down the stretch once KW got his SEC legs under him.

Similar to JV in 03 it took him a while to establish himself but once they had reliable run games those offenses became very difficult to stop.

01 on the other hand was actually a really good running team but once we realized that in order to beat the UF and UTs of the world (or the OMs ) we needed to fully unleash Ro to Reed.

They were elite. The play calling wasn’t.

The only elite offenses we have had in my opinion was 2019 and mett, landry, hill, odell. 2019 would be next level up from elite. to me ultra elite means you score when you need to and have the ability to put the game away against anybody. That is what we had in 2019. 2006 was a really good offense met and the boys did very well. But nothing compares 2019
