“I knew midway through that LSU game that we had the potential to be special,” Travis said. “We showed a lot of toughness in that game by never giving up.”
Travis himself showed guts late in the third quarter. He took a shot from Tigers edge defender Ali Gaye and still threw a 35-yard pearl to Ontaria Wilson for a touchdown. Gaye was ejected for targeting on the hit, too.
While a scary hit ended his baseball career, that one confirmed to Travis that he could make it on the gridiron.
“I love it,” Travis said, before pausing to laugh about the absurdity of that statement. “OK, I’m not going to say I love getting hit, but that was a big moment for me. Knowing I could take a hit, stay in the pocket and make the throw. A lot of people said I couldn’t do that. I proved myself right on that play.”

Besides Travis, here are some of the key Seminoles returning in 2023:
Edge defender Jared Verse: He was a top-20 prospect on PFF’s 2023 NFL Draft big board before opting to return for his redshirt junior season.
Running back Trey Benson: The redshirt sophomore’s 0.51 forced missed tackles per attempt in 2022 broke Javonte Williams’ PFF College record.
Wide receiver Johnny Wilson: He led the Power Five this season with 3.36 yards per route run.
One thing that Travis and those three have in common is that they all transferred to Florida State. The Seminoles dominated the transfer portal once again this year, with three big names joining the program.
Cornerback Fentrell Cypress II: The Virginia transfer allowed only 0.53 yards per coverage snap this season, the fifth lowest for Power Five cornerbacks.
Tight end Jaheim Bell: The South Carolina transfer’s 88.8 receiving grade since 2021 trails only Georgia’s Brock Bowers among returning Power Five tight ends.
Interior defensive lineman Braden Fiske: The Western Michigan transfer’s 48 pressures this year tied for fifth among all interior defensive linemen in college football.
“They’re going to make a huge impact,” Travis said of the incoming transfers. “This is 1000% one of the best all-around rosters in college football heading into next season.”

I think FSU is going to challenge for the ACC title next season, but lets look back on what transpired to give FSU a 1 point win last season:
New QB, new staff
2 muffed punts
Missed FG
Missed extra point final play
OL rotation unsettled
Perkins not starting
CB starters not settled
All that and a missed extra point at the end prevented LSU from going to OT and possibly winning.

It's going to be a good game but this is true. LSU was breaking in everything new in that game and didn't even see much of Perkins. This was the first game ever for Campbell, Taylor, etc. Going to be a different game. I hope we shell shock them but it's probably going to be close.
Mason Smith also looked unblockable in that game until he got hurt. He was basically in the backfield every play until the injury. I'm willing to bet if he stayed that entire game we would've won from him alone. Looked like they couldn't move him.

That is perfect.
LSU gets ready during the spring, summer, and fall like it did for Oregon in 2011.
The game is hyped up like no other opening week game.
Everyone is talking about the game.
Everyone is wanting to watch the game.
Everyone is saying the winner will be proven and in the driver's seat.
When LSU beats the crap out FSU, everyone is talking about LSU.

Forgot to add that we lost our best player on the first drive of the game too. That had a big impact I think. I hope he’s ready to rock and roll against them next year. I’d love to see him have a monster game in that one.

And after the 1st half of the upcoming 2023 game, after being chased & hit by Perkins, M. Smith, Wingo, Speights, S. Jones, Oghoufo, et al, he'll say in his locker room 'we aren't as good as I thought we were, and LSU has some stone cold freak athletes on that DEF...' It should a heck of a game and CBK will have our team ready to play.

True. I think FSU will be a very good team. I also think aggie will be significantly better.
That being said I would bet LSU goes into these two games with extra motivation after last season and takes care of business.

Didn't he literally get hurt on one of the first plays of our first defensive possession? You make it sound like he was having a dominant performance or something.

Not saying they won’t be good…but the ACC was absolute dogshit and they lost 3 games. LSU’s defense for that game vs Bama had 5 different starters on it. One of which was arguably the most impactful defender in the entire country.
I have news for Travis…you better be WAY better than last year because we will be WAY better than that game

They’re going to be amazing next year. They can accomplish all there goals after starting 0-1. That’s the beauty of it all. We’re going to wipe the floor with Florida st next year. We win by at least 14. Book it.

Florida State will challenge Clemson and North Carolina in the ACC. However, they do not come close to the talent level nor coaching of an LSU. Norvell isn’t proven in the way a Brian Kelly is. Folks were in awe of their portal haul, however it was more out of desperation on their end, with the lack of recruiting in talent rich Florida (quite concerning on Norvell’s part). While LSU and just about any top tier team can use Cypress or Fiske, they severely need ANY body they can receive from the portal. Their lack of recruiting will be apparent come September.
LSU returns three, if not four potential future first round talents from the 2022 recruiting class alone, not to mention the return of budding All-American Smith, future day one talents in Nabers and Wingo, the addition of Denver Harris, Duce Chestnut, and other headliners in their transfer portal. Let’s not forget, a more seasoned and polished, Daniels. I legitimately project this to be a double digit win for LSU, though Florida State will have a nice, nine to ten win season.

Wouldn’t say amazing, they’re very much unproven. They’ll be a good 9-10 win team, but I can’t see them competing with say Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, or LSU. Florida State does not possess either or both of the following; A) overtly bloated roster with the talent like any of the aforementioned or B) has the coaching that can develop three and four star talents sprinkled with only a few five star recruits to championship contenders like a Harbaugh.
Let’s see what Norvell and company do, he’s done a solid job since the early struggles but a nine win team can’t be crowned so early due to a few good impact players and good transfers. Folks are ready to call for Saban’s demise with his level of coaching and an immensely talented roster but in the same breath, ready to crown Florida State as a playoff contender.
