Under the BCS formula LSU still at #2-- this is surprising.

Perhaps you failed to look at the results in the link?

.09 points, once LSU beats UGA, they would be #1

It is a BCS era, we would play Ohio State for the title game and not have to go through Clemson just to make it

We fell this week likely due to the Michigan loss.
I expect we’ll swap places again with a win against UGA.

You do realize if it was back in that era, ohio st and clemson would get in over lsu, right?

Ohio St would be #1 by a hanging chad right now
Clemson #2? Eh, that’s a baseless thought.

Under BCS formula, number 1 and number 2 wouldn’t matter

Human Element
The BCS consists of two human elements, or polls, from which two-thirds of the BCS formula is taken.
When people talk about the "BCS" or "computers" they are referring to the early version that didnt use the same 'humans' that rely on the same 'eye test' that the CFP Committee does.
The whole point is to remove the human element and use a sound and proven algorithm computed by microchips to determine the best teams using FACTS and NUMBERS.

The early version of the BCS still used human polls. See this link: LINK
The original BCS formula included the AP Poll, the Coach's Poll, three computer polls, strength of schedule, and losses.

I'd love for you to show your math on this one. I'm aware 2004 happened, but not sure how you think that applies this year.

Even more interesting how far back Utah is from OU.

Clemson went undefeated last season. Clemson is undefeated this season. I fully understand last season should have no bearing on this season but that does not mean it does not have any bearing for voters.
The premise is that there is no way Clemson who went undefeated as champs last season and is undefeated this season would be left out of the title game. If the playoffs were only 2, and the pollsters rankings actually factored into it, they would probably vote differently and ensure Clemson was in.
And I agree with that take, 100%

Do not look at the top spots, go check out where the committee put OSU's "big" wins versus LSU's "big" wins. The screw job is already put into place. If we win, LSU will be #2. If we lose to UGA we are out.

I can't say I agree with that. Th BCS loved SOS and Clemson's is absolute poo.
LSU didn't start out ranked No. 1 in 2008. I'm sure there's plenty more examples of defending champs not starting out at 1.

No, LSU is in, period.

LSU has been #1 in BCS simulation until this week.
I agree a victory over Georgia will put them at #1 again.
For what that is worth.

What the h#ll difference does it make? If LSU is a playoff team, then 1-2-3-4 matters little. If LSU is the hot knife and the rest are butter...
