Uncaught third strike question

I understand the reasoning for the catcher throwing to 1st on a uncaught third strike. I know if the bases are loaded, you don't want a catcher to intentionally drop a 3rd strike, step on home plate and get a forced out. I know the reasoning is the same as the "infield fly rule", but if there's no one base, why throw to 1st? I know this hurt LSU this weekend, I know we've also benefited from it. Just curious what other baseball fans take is on this?

Not understanding your question

Because the base is considered "open" therefore it can't be a force out so you gotta throw the ball to 1st or tag the runner to get the out .
Dont really get the question

I'm guessing a rule explanation is what is needed here. On a dropped third strike the ball must be thrown to first in order to complete the put out. This only counts if first base is unoccupied at the point of the pitch or occupied with two outs. With bases loaded the rule only applies with 2 outs. Therefore by dropping the ball and stepping on home plate for the force you complete the put out on the force at home and end the inning. Remember, you only have to complete the put out on a dropped third strike 1) if first base is unoccupied or 2)it is occupied but there are 2 outs.

My question is, if there is no one on base, why do you have throw it to first on a uncaught 3rd strike?

The batter is automatically out with a runner on 1st and less than 2 outs (to prevent unfair double plays). Otherwise, the batter becomes a runner and can attempt to reach first base, hence the need for a throw.

Quit messing with the integrity of the game. Guess you want to remove all umpires and just the cameras call strikes and balls?

Thanks
Not trying to mess with integrity of the game, just wanted a better understanding of the reasoning behind it
