Matt Borman, who has served as executive director of the Bulldog Club since February of 2017, accepted a job to be president/CEO executive director of LSU's Tiger Athletic Foundation, he told the Athens Banner-Herald Friday morning.

“It’s just an opportunity for me that I just couldn’t pass up,” said Borman, who is UGA’s deputy athletic director of development. “My family and I have had the best four-plus years of our lives in Athens but this is an opportunity to further my career at an awesome institution and they just gave me an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.” Borman will replace Rick Perry, who is retiring after holding the job since 2014 and has been with the TAF since its inception in 1987. TAF’s has more than 30 staff members, according to its website. A spokeperson for the TAF, Chrislyn Maher, had no comment Friday on Perry's replacement. At UGA, Borman’s annual salary was about $237,000.

Since arriving at UGA in February of 2017 to oversee athletic fundraising, Borman and his staff have seen the Magill Society for high-end Bulldog donors grow from 475 members to nearly 1,400 and signed pledges from $36 million to more than $160 million.

He will have his work cut out for him given the current sentiment alot of supporters have for the university and athletic department.

As a resident of Athens GA if he lives in Athens he is "woke". Love the city but the politics are unbearable.
Hence I live next door in Oconee. Home of the Max and our new recruit Jake....Maybe he is trying to escape Athens Politics...

100% this. Lots of money dried up with the SJW/BLM worship. Hope it stays that way. LSU deserves what it gets.

That's a nice anecdote but is there any real evidence? Honest question, the financial hit from Covid is real because of tickets but what's out there that shows this?

First thing that comes to my mind is Georgia’s recruiting budget and how they always load up on five stars maybe he can come over on our side and up our donations and budget and maybe have the same results

More proof that nobody hates LSU more than LSU fans.

Even if you perceive LSU to have become too “woke”, cant you at least take a step back and see the necessity of that for recruiting purposes?

You might literally have mental retardation

Anyone who has met or knows Scott Woodward knows it is clear he is not some progressive trojan horse in our athletic department. Dude is a a good ole Southern boy lobbyist that just gives the public face needed to accomplish whatever task is needed.

National PR/locker room split/recruiting reasons > Tiger droppings mouth breathers that think their upper deck tickets and tiny TAF fund donation move any sort of needle

Or locker room purposes?

Or PR purposes when we are having the worst PR year in our athletics dept history because of things that happened under the last administration?

People can't see more than 2 feet in front of their face and that is especially true in 2021 when people cry about politics constantly. A bunch of fricking snowflakes.

Money dried up most places because COVID economy and LSU was also fricking awful. I doubt any of the people that move the needle financially with donations couldn't see why they did what they did for PR reasons.

Why should you expect people to give their money to an organization that is very open about supporting various morals and causes they don’t personally agree with?

Let’s turn it around and say LSU would’ve taken the very easy step of not openly supporting these clearly controversial things. Cant you at least take a step back and see the necessity of that for financial purposes?
