I have no comment to that because the narratives here are going to be cherry picked regardless. My point wasnt really about whether its a positive on Joe's resume or not. When we realized Wade was a good coach "Oh we can thank Nunez for that, all Nunez." Now "Yeah this is going to go down as a terrible hire for Joe Alleva and he's probably going to promote the volleyball coach to basketball."

Johnny Jones signed TWO top 10 classes in his 5 seasons at LSU. It just didn't register as much because Jones did little to nothing with that talent. Hell, he went 2-16 in SEC play with two top 50 recruits (Blakeney and Sampson) along with many of the same players Wade turned into a NIT team the next season.

Little known fact, Vanderbilt signed THREE top 70 players last year (including two players in the top 15). You know, that basketball powerhouse that was coming off a 12-20 season in 2018. Auburn hadn't made the NCAAT in a decade before Pearl came in an started signing terrific classes.

It would be one thing if LSU was on the level of Northwestern basketball, or even Ole Miss and "all of a sudden" signed some unusually good class. But that wasn't the case here. It just seems "SMU-ish" because Wade not only signed great players, but did something with them, unlike his predecessor

Hes one of the best young basketball coaches out there. He will most definitely end up at another major program.

“ this is going down as a terrible hire for Joe”

Well, I think we all know that the hiring of a coach at a public institution is not all on one person. Having said that, any A.D. is very involved in any hiring or firing process no matter what is expressed on the rant.

The problem for Joe, as I see it, is that if Wade goes south it will be the third time that’s happened for him in three tries. You add into that a women’s basketball coach hire that ‘s mediocre at best, and I don’t see how anyone could not feel that Joe is struggling mightily with his hiring process.
