“Trey Shaffer is in his first season with the Rats from Southeastern Louisiana University. Shaffer has been dominant on the mound this summer posting a 1.74 ERA. In just 10.1 innings pitched he has recorded 15 strikeouts. Welcome to the All-Stars, Trey!”

adding another lefty with experience will help a ton.

Do we see him as a situational/mid inning guy?

Lefty with a good fastball in the 90’s. Was southland conference preseason pitcher of the year heading into 2021, but had a down year. Should be a late inning left option at worst. If he recaptures his form from 2020 (and apparently this summer) he is a weekend starter.

Im pretty sure he and Josh Pearson on same summer league team .

They were, Shaffer dropped off the roster, but he did pitch for the Sanford River Rats.

Watched tons of his starts at SLU, this guy is a bulldog. He’s gonna chew up innings whether from starting or relief. Would be interesting to see how his stuff translates and if we could use him Saturday/Sundays

Even if he just contributes 10-15 innings in the eras low 2s, it's a win.
