Pretty impressive that Watford got this pick considering all the other talent LSU has coming back.

Rothstein is the only national writer who rides for Will.

Just read some info from CWW's ZOOM yesterday. They have an impressive roster with an excellent mix of speed, shooting, and size. They should be able to match-up/adjust well vs any line-up. Looking forward to some Tiger Basketball.

Yep. He is a big cheerleader for Wade. Just like Bruce Feldman with Orgeron, if Rothstein reports something about LSU the "source" is Wade himself.

That said, while I'd love Watford to be the POY, I don't know if I'd pick him for that honor in the preseason.

On Wade's Zoom call yesterday, he gave a lot of good information.

Watford took the information from pro scouts and his player evaluations to heart. Watford is incredibly focused on improving since then. Watford's outside shot is better.

I really think that Wade feels this is his most complete roster in his LSU tenure. Both quality and depth. Eight players that are ready to play an SEC schedule tomorrow and another 3 or 4 who could be ready to contribute this season as needed. (These 3 or 4 have shown flashes, but they need to be more consistent). This depth has improved practice competition. This is important for player and team improvement. For example, last year a walk on was guarding Smart in practice. This year, Jalen Cook (outstanding man defender) is on Smart. This is true at all roster spots!

Penn-Johnson is cleared to play immediately by NCAA. O'Neal's paperwork is filed with the NCAA (Wade is optimistic it will be okayed as well). Final prep for Leblanc's paperwork is being done by LSU before it will be submitted. It should be submitted soon. Even is Leblanc not cleared, he should be able to play after fall exams and not miss many games.

I'm really excited about this year.

I can see it if two things happened over the off season

He improved his 3 point shot and he improved his GD defense. It will be hard for him to win POY if we have to take him out for big defensive possessions.

Will Wade. American Gangster.

Rothstein is the best in CBB imo

Yet Justin Fields was cleared to play immediately at Ohio State.

I think the 18-19 team was probably more talented man for man, but this team can be deeper. Wade only played about 8 guys in 18-19. I think we could see a 10 man rotation this year.

Offensively, Days is as efficient a scorer as there is. Watford is a very good offensive player. Though not quite efficient, Smart can explode for big offensive game and is one of the best at getting a bucket where it seems like nothing is there. Cam Thomas is thought to be maybe the most skilled scoring freshman SG (though he's slightly inferior athletically to some of the other top prospects)

When they run the starting 5 out there at least 4 will be able to get a bucket on their own at any time.

I think Wade is expecting improvement from the returning players. The recruits and transfers only add to both depth and quality. This is why this year could be the most talented roster he has had.

I don't know if there is anyone on this team who, from an individual standpoint, is as talented as Waters or Reid. Plus, you had a bit more of a complete team in 18-19 due to the fact that you had a PG who could completely control the game coupled with great talent and size inside.

With this group Smart is a good player...but he's not Waters. Their isn't a Reid on the team, nor is there someone who could help control the inside defensively like KBW. However, there may not be a ton of drop-off in talent 1 through 8, or maybe even 1 through 10. That should allow Wade to keep rolling guys through without any significant lulls in play

Reid was an offensive talent who also was a turnover machine. Sure he could shoot and get some boards but he was overrated imo. I think this team can be special but it really all boils down to what kind of PG play we will have. If javonte is running point im officially nervous. Cam seems to be more of a 2 as well. If you dont have a capable decision maker at point guard you very well could end up underachieving. This is the key to a deep run imo. we have enough bodies to throw at teams and more size then last year as well, just need steady play from the primary ball handler

I think Cam Thomas may be that guy...5 star recruit who Wade has been raving about as a bucket-getter.
