He’s getting ripped because he IS writing off Toviano. He said in no uncertain terms that the defense would be horrible next year if Toviano is at safety. If he had just said it’s a big risk to expect him to improve enough or that he’d be more comfortable with a proven, experienced safety, no one would be arguing with him.

He wasn’t perfect but at least he took good angles and tackled. That’s more than we can say about Ryan and Gilbert.
